    Marriage and the USA

Hi all, we're hoping someone can help us.
We'd love nothing more than to be able to get married but our ancient laws here in Australia don't allow us to. We're heading over to the USA in Aug/Sept and thought this may be a perfect opportunity for us to get married if we can (even if the marriage wouldn't be recognised here).
Does anyone know any parts of the US (or we could possibly add stops in Canada) where we could get married? Of course, we'd need to ensure the laws will allow same-sex overseas residents to marry and since we'll only be in places a few days at a time, we'd want to avoid a lengthy waiting process. Any help would be great. So far our trip involves stops in NY, Orlando, Aspen, Denver and LA.
    Kaz

I'm sorry I don't know the answer, but I hope some others will! Sounds like a great trip!

Not in HI anymore? Thought you could do it there. I know in VT you can do civil unions. I live in CO and you absolutely CANNOT get married here. We have the "Focus on the Family" based south of Denver and they make sure stuff like this stays in the forefront of CO family's minds.

    Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone. It seems like we'll need to go to Canada if we want to get married. We're currently looking at the civil unions in VT though. We'll keep discussing this and doing more research!!

Yep Kaz - if you're going to go for it - it looks like you're headed North. We're almost directly north of CO actually. We'll crash it if you do it here! (In the happiest most respectful way possible!)

I'm in MA and you need to be a legal resident of MA to get married. There's some sort of "if you are going to be a legal resident", but I don't understand it, and it's possible they've closed that loophole at this point.
