    IUI's

    Hello everyone,

My partner and I are going tomorrow or Saturday for our 4th IUI. I just wanted to check in to see how many on this site went through the IUI process. Each one gets much harder. I am 33 and my system is like clockwork. I really get my hopes up each time. I have posted on the IUI site but I found this link and decided to post here. I am not taking any drugs. The doctor did not feel it was necessary.

    Hi Angie!
Been there, done that!! We actually did 18 IUI's, 3 natural, 6 with Clomid + Metformin + Estrogen + Progesterone at varying doses, 9 with Follistim injections + Metformin + Estrogen + Progesterone. Finally moving to our 1st IVF when I got pregnant with our son whom is 3 years old. We waited until last month and did a FET with our frozen Blastocysts but got a BFN on it last Friday. After much thought, conversation and financial anaysis we have decided to keep trying with the fertility clinic to get pregnant again. I was leaning more toward adoption....DP is set on us getting pregnant again. So, the details of what we will do are still to be discussed but we will do nothing until January. The holidays are VERY hectic with a toddler in the house I know how you feel. Those negatives each month are hard to take!! I'm not sure why you are not on any medications. Have they checked all of your hormone levels? Do you go in during your cycle for bloodwork and ultrasounds to see how your folicles are developing and at least get HCG before your IUI? I would probably sit down with my RE if this cycle is a bust and tell them that you want to be a little more aggressive. Apparently we were pretty aggressive with getting pregnant with Hayden. My RE tries each thing 3 times before moving to something a little more invasive. I would also maybe ask if you should have some testing done, you know. To make sure your plumbing is all in order and working, that you don't have Endo. in there at all and a Sonohystogram to make sure your uterus is all clear.
Just a though. I think you should take some charge here!! Tell your RE to get you pregnant and get serious about it!! It's so hard though. Those negatives can kill you each month. If your not pregnant this month, take a break for the holidays and a rest from all of the stress.
    Take care!

IUIs can be stressful. For us on TTC#1 it worked on our second month of trying (for me). However when I tried again for TTC#2 - we did 15 months of IUIs unsuccessfully. So As I approached 35 I stopped trying and we had DP try -- it worked for her also on the 2nd month of trying --

I think it depends -- note all of our cycles (but 2 were unmedicated/unmonitored) 2 we tried were the last 2 for me with Clomid - but I didn't respond. We didn't want any more invasive drugs or monitoring.

#2 for us is due in Jan and #1 will be 4 in Dec

    Good Luck and Welcome

Congratulations on #2 Eskie. You both have given me hope!! We knew this might be a long process from the beginning but we both want this so much. This would be #1 for us.

Right now I am only seeing a regular ob/gyn doctor. Since I have had no complications and my system is really regular she suggested I just try the IUI procedures based on my LH surge with test kits. I have the IUI the following day after the surge. It seems so complicated. I have read so much about the small window of time you have each cycle. I just feel like we are missing it.

We have decided that if this IUI is not successful we will either move on to Clomid or go to see a specialist to see what they recommend. The ob/gyn cannot do an ultrasound to see what is going on prior to the procedure so the information is very limited.

Keep your fingers crossed for me for tomorrow! I hope this is the one. Have a great weekend.

    Angie

    IUI's

Thank you!! The two week wait is so hard. The IUI procedure went really well on Saturday. I think we timed it just right. My temperature shot up today. I did talk with the dr. on Saturday. She is calling a specialist this week to get their opinion on the next step if this does not work. I am definitely ovulating and my cycles are very regular. She said he may suggest back to back IUI's or the hcg shot the next time. Hopefully there will not be a next time!!

YEAH!! Hopefully not too but the fact that your tempurature shot up the day after is a good sign. If you ovulate and then have the IUI done...you have missed it. Maybe that was the problem before. If you are not having the U/S and the bloodwork done each cycle, it would be REALLY hard to predict exactly when you ovulate and when to do the IUI.

Good luck and here's to a short 2ww!!

Sticky thoughts.... hope number 4 is the charmed one!

It is a difficult process and I have yet to discover a way to make the 2ww easier - especially after experiencing a few negatives and as you start out and not knowing if you have any fertility problems. It is so unnerving. I remember being so frustrated at the beginning - not accepting and not understanding why the IUI's didn't work.

I just did 3 IUI's 2 medicated then IVF- due to time factors(40) and medical reasons. I had two surgeries prior to treatment.

Well I'll be sending those positive thoughts your way!!
