Question Reg Milk and runny poops

We just tried reg milk with Natalie about 1.5 weeks ago. She had a milk allergy as an infant and has always been on Nutramagin (hypoallergenic formula). She seems to be doing great. No rashes.......not fussy after eating or drinking milk products.... (as an infant she would SCREAM if she had reg formula and sometime throw up). The ONLY thing I have noticed is that her poops are runnier. I mean they were always not solid......but they seem even looser than they were before......and VERY stinky. Did anyone else notic this after starting reg milk???????? I really hope it is not an allergy thing. I would have thought she would show SOMETHING else if that were it.

I remember (kinda ) that his BM's were definitely more smelly, don't remember the consistency part so I presume that it wasn't alot different.

Zoey will be 1 in 3 weeks can I try milk with her? I have given her a couple of sips of my milk and she loved it. Her pedi said when we start we need to do half formula and half whole milk. Well she's drinks Soy won't that be gross because to me it sounds very disgusting I can't imagine mixing half whole milk and half soy formula.

Jill - my pedi says at 11 months you can try reg milk on them. That is when I started my transition with my older dd too. She loved reg milk. Natalie hates the taste so I have to do the half formula and half milk........she is on the stinky yucky nutramagin so I imagine that is a weird mixture. But the more different the formula tastes than milk the more you have to mix them cause the baby is used to that different taste and so milk really tastes strange to them. I am hoping the diarrea is just her body adjusting. It is so nice to be able to feed foods with milk in it to her! She LOVES ice cream!

Tina should do you think it would be okay that I try milk with Zoey? It would have to be whole milk? I gave her a taste of my fat free milk and she kept wanting more.

I am going to try half formula and half milk. I have tried introducing just milk and DS did not like it and pushed away the bottle. (That surprised me because I thought he would much prefer milk over the yucky formula, but what do I know!) I breastfed DS for almost 4 months with rice cereal added to the milk because of his acid reflux. Since my milk supply became low, I switched to Enfamil A.R. which had rice starch in it. I am hoping that once DS does drink milk exclusively, it will not bring back any acid reflux symptoms. If so, I will have to put him back on the Axid or Zantac medicines.

Jill - I think you are fine to try milk with Zoey. She is over 11 months old. I think some drs wait till they are exactly a year but mine does it at 11 months. I would stick with whole milk........they say babies need the fat and vitamins in whole milk until they are two. No harm in her sipping on your skim milk but the bulk of her intake should be whole milk. It is my goal to have her completely off formula by her first birthday. I am doing half and half now. Zoey might like milk right away and you won't have to mix. My older dd was like that. She took right to milk. So we just switched cold turkey. She was about 11.5 months.......maybe a little under. She did great.
