I'm considering have a tummy tuck at the time of my next C-section. Has anyone else done this and how has the recovery been? I have pretty severe diastasis and an umbilical hernia (due to carrying twins) so will need muscle repair. My plastic surgeon says the recovery is similar to a c-section (have had 2 previously)...but just wanted to hear from anyone that has actually had both surgeries. Thanks!

I am an l&d nurse. You don't want to do them at the same time. Everything is so swollen and stretched out, that your results won't be nearly as good as if you had waited. Your uterus alone is the size of a 24 week uterus after you deliver. Your tummy won't be able to be pulled as flat. Wait 6 months in my opinion.
Me- 32: borderline high fsh, uterine septum corrected
DH- 35: perfect
Pulled the goalie- 10/11, TTC since 6/12, uterine surgery- 2/14, IUI #1- 5/14 BFN, IUI #2- 6/14 BFN, Moving on to IVF

Tummy tuck surgery should not be done as the same time of C-section risk added for both persons mother and baby.

Hi.. I would advise you to wait for 6- 8 months post delivery. Tummy tuck is generally recommended after you complete your breastfeeding. Talk to your surgeon regarding this and your medical conditions also. I have done my tummy tuck in Toronto an year ago and my surgeon was Dr. Michael Kreidstein and I am satisfied with the results. My personal advice is to wait for at least 6- 8 months so that your body would be fit for a surgery. All the best.
