    Hello LGBT Parenting!

I realize it is quiet over here and just wanted people to know that I am watching this forum and feel free to post if you have any questions, concerns, or just to say hello!

I am a woman married to her lovely wife for 5 years. We got legally married in California in 2013 7 months after the birth of our son. I'm here for everything parenting for the LGBT community.

This is a 'safe space' and moderated to be so.
Much love and hope for you all on your journeys. <3

Pangolin - thanks for moderating this! I am interested in LGBT parenting issues as now I am one! Whee!

My current worry is whether we'll be able to find a community of other kids with families that look like ours. Not only are we a same sex couple, we're also OLD (48 and 50) so socializing is kind of different.

Our other concern is whether to have a second child. We have a few more months to decide and two frosties waiting for us but we're still not sure.
Me: 52 one baby born April 2013 DW: 49 - mthr to 17 yo DS & 20 yo DD
04/20/12 RBA (Atlanta) 6 DE - 5 survived thaw and fertilized
07/23/12 transferred 1 shining star blast,
7/24/12 two Grade A blasts froze - two others stopped growing
    4/3/13 Luke born!
01/23/15 Day one of FET cycle!

We're in the odd position (the wife and I) of living in a place with a large LGBT community and yet all of the people we've met are at least 20 years older than us if not older in our immediate community. If we went an hour south we'd be surrounded by people more our own age, but this is where we live and work, so so be it.

The majority of them either don't have kids or their kids are grown and gone. They have a different perspective on child rearing because the vast majority of them had kids in a traditional marriage and then came out later.

Essentially, I am of the feeling that even today, even where I live, my son will not grow up seeing other families like ours. With the exception of the internet, I'm afraid you may be in the same pickle as us.
Much love and hope for you all on your journeys. <3

Soo.... hoping to get this forum going a little more! Wondering if kitty might come join us, too...
My LO is 2 months old... well, two months and 4 days.
And she turned over during tummy time today! (I think I'm in trouble...)

Meanwhile, I'm watching the Virginia progress carefully these days, because my wife just interviewed for a job in Northern VA... and we'd like to have ONE family insurance plan without having an additional individual one...

Funny, where we are now we don't really know any other gay families, but have no concerns about our kiddo feeling different - we're huge geeks and our friends are too, and I think that's going to be something that will be the connecting force.

Welcome! I can't believe it has been over a year since I started this thread. It seems that all the online lgbt parenting boards are quiet.

My almost two year old is a handful to say the least. He never stops moving. He's a terrible sleeper to boot. I mean he's happy so he sleeps enough for him, but not enough for me.

Will post more later.. Need to run!
Much love and hope for you all on your journeys. <3

Hi there!! It has been a long time since I have been on this site. My life got a little bit busy with Ms. Aizlee. She is doing wonderful!! I can't believe she will be a year old on the 8th of November. It has gone all too quickly for me.
Parenting has been an interesting ride for me already. Aizlee and I don't have much of a social life. I live in a very small town and that doesn't leave much opportunity to meet other people. I am also an older mother which is an issue as all of my friends children are in high school or graduated. I think Aizlee and I will be just fine
I grew up in a neighborhood with no kids and hung out with the older community and I turned out just fine.

Hi kitty lover, she will turn out fine! My wife is 55 and she was worried when we had our son. He is 5 now almost 6. A handful, she does get tired but he keeps her young and fit😊

Hey kittyluver! I recognize your avatar. Time does in fact fly doesn't it? My baby will be 2 in December... TWO!

We're in the middle of IVF treatments (finger's crossed for one round and done) and to top it off this last week we were at my sister-in-law's wedding which is why my post was so disjointed. I felt like I should reply but had to do it on my phone. We actually go in for egg retrieval next Thursday! I can't believe we're so in the middle of it and our toddler is completely out of control with the endless energy and never stop attitude.

I think the funniest thing is that having a child means never hiding and never being 'in the closet'. He calls us both mama interchangeably and it was a big thing at the wedding. Small conservative town with lots of guests that weren't family or friends that WE knew.
Much love and hope for you all on your journeys. <3
