    Personal Updates: Week of 1-7-05

    Happy Monday Ladies!!!

I am 24 weeks this week....the big SIX month mark! I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going!!! Baby still doesn't have a name yet. For this week we have narrowed it down to Ryan and Drew. We asked my FIL for some family names and he came back with Shobel....I don't think so!

I shopped for Baby Furniture this weekend. Sunday & Monday are my days off, so today will be ordering day. We are leaning toward an antique black for the furniture. We bought the bedding this weekend. I attached the picture. The vision for the nursery is really coming together! WOW...this is so real and is going so fast! I remember with the first baby, I said I wouldn't spend so much on the second baby...furniture, bedding, etc....YEAH right! Small fortune going on here...but hey, he's worth it!

Lots of movement....I think he's a dancer or a gymnast!

Ok...gotta run! I promise to post the updated due date chart....I just haven't had the time to sit down and do it.

    HUGS!

    Hi everyone!
Kathy, glad to hear that everything is going so well. I like both the names you are throwing around. No offense but I am not too keen on Shobel myself. LOL
We are still not completly sure on names. We have been throwing around a couple but I am still not sure I like the boys name. IF we have a girl maybe Isabella Grace and for a boy Preston Cole.
    I do love Isabella Grace.
Things are moving along here. I wish I could be like the rest of you and say that this preg is moving fast for me. I am so dissapointed. This is my last preg and I so wanted to enjoy it. Even through my THIRTY FOUR weeks of sickness with Kaelyn I loved the feeling of being pregnant. I didnt love the sickness, but the feeling of being pg was wonderful. I do love being pregnant but now any feelings of joy i have are being replaced with constant worry. I am trying to do better though. Today I will call my ob doctor and talk about my concerns and I will also call the cardiologist office and set up another appt.
But on with it.. I am 23 weeks today! Yesterday and last night the baby didnt move alot and that always worrys me, but I am trying to realize that they have their quiet days too. We did go to Topeka yesterday and saw the most beautiful bed that we are going to get for Kaelyn. We want to move her to a big girl bed and change her to the bigger room so we can have the other room for the baby. The beds that we saw were done by crafters selling them in the mall. They were handcrafted headboards and the wood was georgous. They have twin and toddler ones. All we would need was the matteresses. The one we looked at was teddy bears cut all the way through the headboard. TOO CUTE! AND he was only selling them for 70.00 for toddler and 100.00 for twin!!! And they are so strong and sturdy. We will go back next week and get it. Didnt have room this trip.
    Anyway,,, onward HO ladies!
Melissa you musta posted as I was posting. I am glad that things are going well for you too !!!

    Good morning Girls,

I will be 21 weeks tomorrow and I am happy to announce that my bump is finally here in earnest. Holy Curvolies. It doesnt seem to disappear in the mornings anymore and so I can stop pestering DH with the ? "Do you think I'm still pregnant?" Its my pregnancy and I can be as mad as I want to, right?

Anyway, my doctor's visit last Wed went well. I am grateful to report that I am as fit as a fiddle. I am feeling wonderful. The report from my 18 week u/s results are looking good except for my low lying placenta. I will be sent for another u/s at 36 weeks and depending on that and/or if I go past my DD, I will be sent to an OB. (Also because of my age)

We too went shopping at the weekend and had our first adventure in Baby's R US. It drained the very life blood out of us and we had to lie down when we got home and wondered whether we are too old for this gig, first time parents at 40. It felt thrilling to, finally in my life, to be shopping there. For me, my baby, not someone elses baby. I actually allowed myself to buy some things, sleepers and things, I am so green at this, I havent a clue what I need. We chose a stroller and thats one hurdle over. We are rebuilding our house this summer (excellent timing, eh?) We are living in the basement at present and so we feel there is no point in decorating a nursery down here and so we will wait til the house is finished upstairs. So I have lots of time to choose stuff etc.
I have to admit that in all my disbelief that this is actually happening, I am now feeling the reality of it and spent last evening with friends that have children, really feeling a part of it all. They told their birth stories and I felt included. My tears are falling. I felt like a real woman. Not some defective. I guess the pain of my too many years of IF does not disappear because I am pregnant. This feels like something that will take a long time to heal. Like a name carved in a tree, it will fade but the scar, if you scratch the surface, will always be there somewhere.
But along side that grief, I am happier than I have ever been in my life.

    Love Grainne

Grainne~ You are a mommy! Enjoy every minute of it! You sure do desire it!
Missy~ I'm glad you are feeling a little better. We are here for you!
Kathy~ I love the name Ryan! Of course I'm bias! The Vintage Firetrucks are just too cute!!

I am 22 weeks today and really starting to feel my lil guy! It's fun to be walking around and all of a sudden get kicked! A very reassuring feeling!
We still haven't come up with a name yet! I still don't think we are even close. Oh well...I was 9 mos. pg last time before we decided on dd's name!
We have been looking at sport themes for the baby and our ds. When we FINALLY get to move, they will be sharing a room! My ds will actually turn 8 a week and a half before the baby is due, but he is so excited about sharing a room with his new brother. I have a very sweet, loving ds! He is just wonderful with his little sisters!
I am feeling a little better too! I'm really trying to stay focused on my AFP results and the baby looking healthy other then his kidney. I did read in a medical book this weekend, that his birth defect is the MOST common of all birth defects! So, why oh why did the peri have to scare me to death!! I know...it's his job! I'm really praying that his kidney improves and that the peri is just left speechless! He is so certain it will not improve. I would love to see his face if it did! I do know most likely it won't, but it's a good feeling to think it might!
When I went to the OB on Thursday, I have only gained 2 lbs.!! Yeah, I'm so excited!! I am overweight, so this is great! If I can keep up the little weight gain, I will weigh less then when I started!
I wish each of you a good week and hope everyone is feeling well!

    Michelle

    Good afternoon Ladies

Well, I'm 21wk3d today. I had my last prenatal appointment with my family dr on Thursday. I have gained 9 lbs in 4wks for a total of 10 lbs this pregnancy. I was hoping to keep the weight gain down but those French fries at lunch keep calling me. Today I notice that I now have stretch marks, so I'm freaking out a bit. I picked up some cream and I hope it works. We still don't have any names picked out yet. I hope the next u/s we'll find out the gender (not likely to happen) so we can narrow our choices down. I should be getting a call this week about the next u/s appointment and I go for my first OB appointment on March 2nd.

I'm feeling this little move more often and its reassures me that things are fine. The baby doesn't like when my cat lies on me, about 1 minute after the cat has been there the baby starts kicking where the cat is. I can't wait until the day when the cat can feel the baby kick, I'm sure the cat will be wondering where it came from.

    Hey Girls,

Kathy, the theme for the room is soo cute!!

I am astounded at how fast time is flying by!!!I am 24 weeks on Wednesday. I can't believe it. Things are going really well on this end. Although The little man gets the hiccups an awful lot. Which is fine with me, I love feeling him kicking and moving around. It just amazes me.

Dh was home today. He cleaned, moved furniture and organized all the christmas stuff down in the basement!!! Shocking I know.

Oh the biggest news of the week is the Patriots!!! Back to Back SuperBowl Champs!!!

Twenty weeks this week!!! 1/2 way there...or a little less than half...hoping to deliver early !!

I already have my baby bedding...not what I originally picked out...had some problems with it when I saw it in person..so I went with my 2nd choice...which was MUCH cheaper...DH was happy about that!!

We have soooooo much to do as far as the nursery goes...it's been a dumping ground for the last 7 years! Things are moving along though....I'm a Creative Memories consultant so I'm moving all my inventory from the office to a closet downstairs, then stuff from the baby's room into the office!

Now the good news: My last day of work is the 17th!!!! I can actually get things done!!! I'm sooo excited! And my SIL said she wanted to help me paint the nursery!! My dh doesn't paint, so what a blessing!

Dr. update: Went to the specialist on Friday..things looked good although Victoria was sleeping and refused to wake up...reminds me of me!!! What we could see looked real good though! I have my regular OB appointment tomorrow...so I'll find out how much I've gained

Other than DH asking whatelse do we need to get and how much is it going to cost?????, everything is going great!!

We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday! Mommy, Daddy and Grandma Susie (my Mom) were all present. It was a level 2 ultrasound so it was very clear. They checked for any markers of birth defects and found nothing unusual. It looks like our Baby BOY is perfectly healthy!! And oh is he cute!! We saw him squirming and swimming around. He even got the hiccups. I could feel him moving the whole time. He was very cooperative with the ultrasound technician - So hopefully he’ll be a good boy. He weighed 15 oz., right on target and he was not shy about showing his stuff . Just like a man. DH and I are so excited and relieved to know he is healthy. So, let the shopping begin!!!!!

I've been feeling better lately. I bought some Dr Scholes gel insoles last week and they help a lot with the hip and feet aches when I'm out running around. I've also learned to take frequent breaks from standing when I'm out. I woke up with a little bit of stomach flu this morning. I hope it passes quickly. I've got lunch plans with friends tomorrow. All in all.. I can't complain much. This has been an easy pregnancy! Oh yeah, I gained 4 lbs this visit and I'm finally showing!!!!!

    Luv,
    Erin
