Back from the u/s and counselor

The u/s went well but the baby likes to move around a lot. After a 1/2 hr of try to get a good picutre of the spine the tech finally got it. The Genetic counselor is confident that the baby does not have spina bifida but I was offered an amino (to give the 100% all clear) which I turned down. The baby spend quite a bit of time in the fetal position so the tech didn't get a good look at the face and it was recommended that I go for another u/s in 2-3 wks. It's nothing to worry about but they want to look at the noise and lips. I'm not going to the Feb 3rd u/s because the type of u/s is not necessary and I will have the other one in 2-3 wks.

As for the gender, that is still the baby's secret.

    Hi Kim,

That's great news about the baby's spine. It sounds like you have an active one in there!! I'm sure your next ultrasound will show a perfect little face!

Baby is keeping quite a secret! Not knowing the gender would drive me nuts! I envy your calmness!!

That's wonderful news! I had the same problem with the face and lips, although she was much more cooperative than your little one!! We got lots of good shots, just not the face...In our case they are looking for cleft lip, which is a marker for trisomy 18...I'm not to worried since all the other markers came back great!

    We go back on Friday...

I'm with you on the "other" ultrasound...my original 5 month was/is scheduled for the 8th. Now the only thing I'm worried about is when my regular 5 month check up is...I need to call my OB, but haven't yet!

I'm so happy for you...hope you can breathe easy now!

    Hi Kim

So glad that the u/s went well! I just got back my quad screen--all negative thank God. There are soooooooo many false positives out there. I'm so sorry you had to worry, but I am very glad it all turned out okay.

    Best of luck

That is great news!!!! I know what you mean about them lil ones not cooperating, When i was pg with Kaelyn we went to our us and she would not let us see what her sex was. Our doctor did free sex checks until we were able to see which was like 5 u/s later!
Sometimes they dont show you what it is you are wanting to see. lol
We re not finding out the sex this time so we at least dont have to worry about this baby keeping that a secret.
Glad to hear all is well!

Thanks everyone. I'm more relaxed now know that my baby is doing just fine.

Kathy: I'm not that calm about not knowing the gender. If I could I would schedule an u/s just to find out the sex but I have a feeling this baby will keep it's secret until I give birth. Beside it's fun watching my MIL squirm when we come back from the u/s and her trying to guess what it is before we finally tell her that we don't know.
