    Annoyed at some family members

Lately my family has been getting on my nerves. We have our big u/s this week and my grandma keeps asking if we're going to find out the baby's sex and telling me how she is praying that it's a girl. I finally snapped and said we will be happy if it's a healthy baby and that she may not get to know what we find out at the u/s. How come people think that we automatically want a girl since we already have a boy???!!!! It's driving me crazy!

Then I heard through my aunt and grandma that my cousin - still in her mid-20's but doesn't have any kids yet - said that we shouldn't be surprised that we got pregnant because we weren't taking b/c pills at the time. Her BIL and his girlfriend just had a baby that was a big surprise after she missed two days of b/c pills. I'm so p*ssed that she would lump me into that category as well. I suffered through 6 years of IF, dozens of tests that showed I was never ovulating on my own, thousands of dollars spent on IF treatments, and medical specialists telling me that I would most likely never get pregnant on my own I feel like this was a wonderful, miraculous surprise.

Thanks for letting me vent ~ no one else seems to understand how upset I can get over these things.

Amy, I'm sorry you are experiencing this from your family members. I don't think that people that have not gone through IF issues will ever understand what we've gone through to get to this point. People can be very insensitive.

I would try to avoid those that annoy you cuz you deserve to enjoy your pregnancy and your baby (no matter what gender)!

    Vent all you want!!!

I know exactly how you feel. I have two boys and every time I tell someone we are having another one, the next thing that follows is "Oh I bet your trying for a girl" or Oh I hope it is a girl. It makes me furious. I feel like screaming "If you knew how much it took us to get htis far why would you even say something like that. This has been my major complaint from day one of telling people. In all honesty I do not care what it is and would be overjoyed with a girl or a boy.
I dont have any good advice for you, but feel for you

I am sorry you are having to deal with all that.

Right after we found out we were preg. MIL said it'll be nice to have a little girl. I said I think it'll be nice for Lee to have a brother. I said that without thinking. Now she thinks I want a boy when all I really want is a healthy baby.

Non-IFers do not understand what we've went through. What makes me mad is that 99% of them don't even try to understand. The comments of your cousin were just full of ignorance.

So many people don't understand what you go through with IF and others are just plain ignorant. My grandma says that she hopes that I am having a girl b/c she has no use for boys. She said the same thing after my ds was born. I tell myself that she is 90 years old and going a little senile!
