Loopy Lou mentioned companion planting--ever heard of Three Sisters planting?

I came across this website a month or so ago and wondered if anyone had tried this: http://www.kidsgardening.com/growing.../mar02-pg1.htm

In my area (Navajo country in the United States Southwest) it is common to see cornfields planted in rows of clumps. I haven't ever noticed anything else growing along with them though.
