Started my first plants last night!

Well, "plants" might be a bit optimistic, but we did plant seeds. I have two of those little plastic greenhouses that hold the Jiffy Peat Pellets (the discs you cover with water until they swell up to be a little thing of peat to start your seeds). Each holds 25. We started one set of 25 last night. We planted:

    Tomatoes--beefsteak
    Tomatoes--Big Boy
    Tomatoes--Sweet 100 cherry
    Peppers--jalapeno
    Peppers--bell
    Basil
    Peppermint

In about a month we'll plant the bigger seeds--cukes, squash, watermelon. My goal is to plant outside the first weekend of April using my Wall 'O' Water things to get about a 6 week jump on our average date of last frost. I have a problem with our short growing season of having tomatoes and peppers finally come on about the time the first frost hits. It's all an experiment . . . .

Katrack: you've gotten me inspired to start some seeds too! Due to an unfortunate miscommunication with my DH, my kitchen herb garden was destroyed, so I just started some basil, rosemary, cilantro, mint, chives and lavendar. We'll see how it goes. I usually don't have much luck with seeds.

Gotta say--my seeds aren't doing much. I must figure out what went wrong!
