    Where can I get CLEMATIS???

Is it easy to grow? And is it a bad time to plant this vine now?

    hee hee.

Lovely clematis you got there, ma'am.

Any garden center. You could plant now, but I would wait until fall. The montana species are easy and beautiful. remember - cool roots and hot top. That means, plant it somewhere with some coverage around the roots. (for example, cover the roots with ivy or some groundcover or at least heavily mulch it. I like clematis growing up and through a bush or tree)

    Hi:

I'd really consider what kind of clematis you're getting as well. Some have to be cut back right to the base each year, other's can be just left to grow wild and crazy. I much prefer the non-pruning variety. The base of them looks so much more bountiful.

I am in the South here and it is HOT as H-LL! Fall? What's that? It's not necessarily cooler. So do you want to plant Clematis when it is cooler so it doesn't just wither and dry up?

We're pretty hot here too and the only luck I've had with Clematis is planting in early spring or fall. The first growing season hasn't done much but give it a year and mine took off. LJ is right........cool roots, hot top.

    Good luck!!

Well I have a brick wall where there is dirt at the bottom so the roots would stay cool there with the monkey grass surrounding it and the mulch, and then when the vine grows it is sunny and hot above. So can I plant now?

I planted mine and mulched, then planted a coral bell plant in front to further shade the roots.I rarely even water it and it thrives!I cut it to the ground each fall.

Well it is hot as H-LL!!! OMG!!! Heat index makes it feel like 116!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I am planting ANYTHING right now. Because of the construction our sprinkler system is KERPLUNK so I can't really stand out there in the heat for even 5 minutes!
