    Hi Bec,
Hope you had a great weekend
I am doing ok, got AF today. It showed its face very early (5 days).
As I mentioned before, I will see my doctor on the 15th and I am hoping to start right away ~Sep 18th. I am not sure if he will put me on bcp or not, I get very bad Migraines.
I am praying to get a BFP by Nov just in time for Dh's Birthday.
BTW, This would be my 1st IVF with PGD.

How are you doing? what is new with you?

    Becky,

Well, the last IUI with microsort failed so we are, in all likelihood, moving onto IVF with PGD. We have another consult early next week, then we decide on which clinic we will go with. We have three great choices - all wonderful women REs, but we will based the decision on the 3Cs:

    1) Comfort - with the dr, lab and the procedures planned;
    2) Convenience - distance to clinic, etc and
    3) Costs - who can offer us the best deal for these services.

So, we are taking some time off while we gather the info and perhaps do some more testing prior to IVF.

Mary - it sounds like you have a luteal phase defect -I think I had the same - fortunately IVF takes care of that by replacing the progesterone (and estrogen) in the second half of the cycle.

    Good luck to everyone!
    Kate

I just wanted to say hi to everyone and catch folks up. DH and I went for his annual urologist appt.(you know prostate) and she told me my current (new) ob/gyn fertility specialist is full of hot air. on too many things to mention here. She suggested genetic counseling and actually knew about Trisomy 9.(She should have been a brain surgeon, since no one else in the area seems to know or care!) For us it's too late for us to bother now. We just celebrated our 2 yr anniversary and we decided this trip on the infertility roller coaster will end Jan 1 2005 whether we conceive or not. We have an appt tomorrow with our old ob to discuss IUI, but if we have to go back to square one again we are just going to move on with our lives and play lots of golf. I don't have the emotional reserve left to continue for yrs. We just bought a new house and are going to move into it in a month or so. Perhaps it is just what we need to change our focus. I will keep you posted on my appt tomorrow. Maybe things will be more positive than they have been.

    Hi Abilene,

Thanks for checking in - was missing you. I think you are making the right decision for your family and your sanity. Have you thought about adoption or is that not an option? Will you be happy childfree? Sounds like it. I think it takes courage and strength to know when to say when. But dont be such a stranger. PM me your email and we can catch up some more.

    Take care,
    Kate

    Update

Well, the doctors appt on Friday went pretty well. We don't have to start again, but he isn't interested in us moving on to IUI. We conceived once- "no reason why we can't again" We are back on 150 of clomid again. He does want to test my FSH on day 21 (no problem there). I go back after that day 21 testing if I am not pregnant by then.

I explained that we would end ttc Jan 1, 2006, so I guess the doctor has move optimism than I do. This guy made no suggestion of any more surgery (thank God) so that went well. I just felt the other guy was knife happy.

We did discuss that I was the first patient he ever had that had a m/c from Trisomy 9. He was more interested in why we would want to know why I m/c'ed. DUH? I don't understand these doctors....

The doctor did ask why we left his practice when we were expecting before. I told him why.He was suprised and I believe embarassed. I figure if he helps me conceive again that's great, but I still don't know if I want to keep my business there since I was so poorly treated by his staff there before while I was pregnant. Time will tell. (Never say never). Out here, in BFE where we live it's just an assembly line of preg 18 yr old military wives and I don't fit the mold. There is lots more money to be made delivering premade babies as opposed to helping this old grey mare conceive.

Well, we just spent the weekend celebrating DH's birthday and we had a great time together. This coming week we are off to the Outer Banks of NC for vacation for 8 days. It is certainly something we can hardly wait for. Golf, sun and no hurricane.

    Abilene,

If you are comfortable with the plan, I think that's great. Sounds like you are good and tired of all this stuff and who can blame you. I do think this dr sounds kind of laissez faire though with his 'wait and see' attitude at your age. There is a great big reason it may not happen again and that is age! If you really want to get pg, you may have to be more aggressive. But I do applaud your telling him the truth about his practice and his staff - more of us need to do that instead of just slinking off with our tails between our legs. They are providing a service and we deserve good treatment from everyone in thier practice!

So glad you had a nice relaxing weekend and if relaxation helps you to get pg - all the better!

    Take care,
    Kate

    Hi Kate;
I agree the doctor seems awful relaxed, but they all seem that way in this area. They have lots and lots of business. I have basically run out of drs in this area.

Oh, I did leave out that this guy says he might want to do an untrasound next month to see if I am ovulating. Again this is more than anyone else has done. I plan on pushing the IUIthing again at the next appt.

    Abilene

PS Have you chosen a Dr for IVF yet?

    Abilene,

No, but we have our third (and probably) final consult tomorrow. I think this may the be group that we go with since they can do the microsort with IVF (and PGD if nec). I just really hope they can give us a good deal. If your drs are not aggressive, I think you need to be and use your research to guide you. Which is what you are already doing - just stay on them!

    Take care,
    Kate
