    Hi Kim,
I wish you lived in my area as far as the support group offer.
I was wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me about your diagnosis. Did you find this out after the two rounds of injectibles or before. If it was after, did your doctor order the testing because of the failed cycles or by your request.
This is all new to me and I am wondering what I should be asking of my doctor. I just finished my fourth unsuccessful Gonal-F/IUI and am very frustrated. I have an appointment on Friday and I want to be prepared with the right questions as far as what should I be doing next.
Thanks and good luck to you!
    Maria

    Maria,
I was diagnosed with positive homozygous mthfr by an ob/gyn in Missouri and when I moved to Florida I went to 2 different RE's that did not even know what mthfr was. Pretty scary, huh? My doctor in MO ran 16 different blood tests and nothing showed up so he ran 2 more tests and found the homozygous mthfr. I went through 2 rounds of bravelle injections with bms this past October and November and only produced one follicle each time big enough to go and no luck. I had 7 follies the first time ranging from sizes 8 to 11 and only one 20 and the 2nd time I had 5 follies sizes 8, 9, 9, 13, and 20. I decided to switch doctors and when my husband gets back from being underway we are going to try again. The RE has me on Folgard twice a day, baby aspirin once a day, and prenatals once a day. I was told that when we try again and if I get a BFP then he will start heparin. However, I am going to convince him to use lovenox instead of heparin and start me on cycle day 6. I am a member of a reproductive immunology support group on-line and a doctor that is a specialist in this field recommends that homozygous mthfr patients take lovenox starting on cycle day 6. I would ask your doctor to run immune testing on you.

    Hi Kim and Maria,

I'm not from Jacksonville either but I wanted to say hi and tell you that I recently was diagnosed as being homozygous for MTHFR too. I have other infertility issues as well. I don't ovulate on my own so I do injectibles with IUI. I got pregnant last year and miscarried around 8 weeks. We saw a heartbeat at 6 1/2 weeks but then none at 8 weeks. I then pushed for whatever testing I could get. We did the thrombophelia panel of blood tests and mthfr came up. So, my RE sent me to a hematologist and she is planning to start me on Lovenox when I start my next injectibles cycle. If I get pregnant, I will continue the shots through my entire pregnancy. I'm so glad to meet others who share this condition. I hope we'll all get pregnant this year and can help support each other!

Kim, I'd love to keep in touch via email but I can't access your profile for some reason so I can't get your email. I guess I'll just keep posting on this thread unless there's some other way for me to get your email address.

Hope you're having a good week!

    Hello again,

I have a question for you about Lovenox. I just started an injectibles cycle and will be starting Lovenox in a day or two. My Hematologist wants me to start on 60 mg once a day for the remainder of my cycle through the 2ww. Then, if I get pregnant, she will want me on 2 shots (60 mg each) twice a day. Does this sound like a normal dose?

Thanks and hope you're doing well!

    Hello,
I live in Jacksonville, FL and have been diagnosed with homozygous mthfr with two copies of C677T mutation. I have had two miscarriages. I am going to start folgard and baby aspirin treatment. Since this thread started last year, I wonder if any of you has had a successful pregnancy.

    Thanks!
