    Need homemade chili seasoning recipe

I usually buy those premade seasoning kits but I'm not wanting to go to the grocery today and I've already started a HUGE pot of chili (ground beef, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, corn, onion.) I have lots of chili powder and other seasonings here so I'm hoping I can make do with what I have.

    What seasonings would you use???

This is the mix that I use to season chili. It says to add 3 tbsp to each lb of meat when making chili. I only use 1 Tbsp per lb, and you may even want to start out with 1/2 tbsp and test it from there. I keep it in the fridge in a little plastic container. It makes 3/4 cup. and the recipe says you can replace commercial chili powder in favorite recipes. Use it to season meat for tacos or taco salad, too.

    Chili Seasoning Mix
1/4 cup ground red chili pepper or cayenne
    1/4 cup paprika
    2 Tbsp dried minced onion
    4 tsp cumin seeds
    2 tsp dried oregano
    2 tsp salt
    1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp crushed dried red pepper
    Dina
    10 7 4 3

    Our family is complete.

Mm that sounds good. This is what I usually throw together:
    1 tablespoon ground cumin
    2 tablespoons chili powder
    1 tablespoon cayenne
    hot pepper sauce, several drops
    1 teaspoon coarse salt

Oh I wanted to throw mine in for the next attempt. Oh Kerri I imagine you must be so excited at this point!!!!

    Hugs for you!!!

Ok back to chili the texas ladies won't stear you wrong. I do not measure anything so you can be the judge on how much of each goes in.

chopped onion, minced garlic, ancho chili powder or regular, salt, pepper, ground cumin I usually smell the pot to see if I have a good mix on cumin. No beans a good pot of chili never has beans ok a good pot of texas chili does not have beans.

    hugs, jo

Thank you! LOL I had to use beans. It's a long story but I ended up with 10 bags of dried beans that I have been hanging onto for 6 months now. I decided to use some of them for this gigantic pot of chili. So, now I only have 7 bags left.
