how do you make your sloppy joes?

I usually use the "Not so Sloppy" mix. Do you use a jar of sauce or do you make your own? If you make your own what recipe do you use?

I make my own. Mod-Tfal on the 2+ board has a great recipe! You can do a search -- she's posted it before over there. I don't have it with me at work.

I never make it. My parents always made that and have made it when visiting. I think they start with a can and then do a lot of "doctoring."

I make my own and it is wonderful if I do say so myself. I ususally make it for a crowd and not so much just for us. I throw in lots of ground beef with chopped celery and onion until browned. Then I add lots of ketchup, garlic powder, some brown sugar and vinegar sometimes if I add too much brown sugar. It tastes sooo much better then canned and is just as easy.

My recipe was handed down from my mom who got it from another mom way back when I was a toddler...

Ground beef browned with onion (drain grease) + 1 bottle Heinz Chili Sauce

It's quick and yummy and kid friendly

I don't make them. Growing up, my mom used McCormick's seasoning packet, though.

I cook ground beef in onions and celery. I add a small can of tomato paste, garlic powder, worchestershire (sp.) sauce and some ketchup and cook it down a bit. Rachel Ray has a good recipe on food network. I saw it last week. It looked delicious!!!

mine is with ketchup, a squirt of mustard, onion, cooked ground meat, some garlic salt or powder, and some pickle juice. If I am lazy then I will use canned sloppy joe sauce, usually the store brand like shurfine. my family doesn't like manwich so usually its the ketchup recipe route!
