Brown rice in rice cooker - long overdue

    Hi all -

I promised to try out some brown rice in my rice cooker a few weeks ago. I think Cathy-NY was wondering if it would work. I finally tried it out last week and it turned out great. I will definitely try it again sometime, I like to add rice to my burritos. We usually stick to sticky white rice - my DH's favorite.

    Take care,

My Dad was surfing with me- (via Webtv ) when we saw this post. He said he cooks brown rice in his rice cooker all the time and it turns out very well. I think he adds a little more liquid. I did eat some of it while I was there, but did not ask for specifics since I don't have one.

I've been on sugar busters for years, so have been doing my brown rice in the rice cooker this whole time. You do have to add extra water to the normal measurements, but it's like that if you cook it on the stove too (brown rice just takes more water for some reason). It takes much longer than white rice to cook, and it sticks like the dickens to the cooker, so be liberal with pam before you add it in.

In terms of extra water, If I use two cups of brown rice, I fill with water to mid-way between the 3 and 4 lines.
