Does pumping hurt more than sucking?

I feel the pump more than I feel my newborn. Is this a bad sign?

Perfectly normal. The pump has a different sucking action & can be harder on the nipples. I always feel uncomfortable after pumping but not after feeds.

I think the pump hasmore discomfort than baby does. Can you adjust the pump at all? The PIS has 4 or 5 speeds, lower speeds are more gentle.

Generally pumping is less comfortable than bf-ing, but it shouldn't really hurt after you get the hang of it. On the bright side, pumps don't have teeth!

LOL on the teeth comment. if your breast hurts while pumping, then it's likely the dials are set too high. try turning down the suction a notch or too and see if that works better.
