    Travelling and breastfeeding????

Hi, I am going away for 3 days to a college reunion and need to pump for my 4 month old twins-
    I have a few questions...
    1. How do you transport the PIS- in a suitcase or as carry-on luggage?
    2. How often should I pump to keep up my supply- the boys nurse every 3.5 hours between 7am and 7 pm- I only want to pump enough to not dry up- I will be pumping and dumping.
    3. Should I start fenugreek or mother's milk tea before I leave or when I come back??????
I am nervous to leave them for 3 days?? SHould I bring one with me to make it easier?????
    thanks
    ANNIE

With #1 I used to travel for work on occassion. Here's what I would do:

    1. DEFINITELY carryon. If you pack it and your bag is lost or damaged, you will be in big trouble!!

    2. I hate to say it, but I think to maintain your supply you'll have to pump AT LEAST as often as they nurse. If I were you, I would sacrifice a little of my supply, assuming you have enough frozen ebm or are willingn to suplement and pump every 4-5 hours. After you return home, it might just take a few days to get up to speed again. When you do, I"d pump after every feeding and maybe set an alarm to wake during the night for a pump for a little while.

    3. No clue-- I've never used those

I don't see how you'd take just one Have a great time!

I wouldn't travel without my nursing baby, so I'd take them both with me.

I'd carry the pump on.....I don't go anywhere without my PIS, even with having the baby with me.

I pump any time my baby would usually nurse. My boobies won't let me skip a session!! Why are you dumping??? You could definitly save some of the milk.

I wouldn't start any supply boosters before you go, other wise you may have to pump more often or be uncomfortable. Start taking them when you return.

    Have fun!!!
