    Help! Re: alavert

I took an alavert tonight because I'm just so miserable and being that I can't stop sneezing, I assume its allergy related. I took it right after C went to bed, he won't nurse again for 12 hours. Its a 24 hour tab.

Everything I read online says 'check with your doc first'. I just am so miserable I wasn't thinking.

Will he be fine to nurse tomorrow?

The only thing you'll have to watch for is if it contains an antihistamine which will dry up your milk. All meds must say that so they can CYA. I'm sure the amount of meds will be nil in your milk and I wouldn't worry about C.

I posted a similar message yesterday re: Zyrtec, and the responses were pretty reassuring. It contains an antihistimine and pseudoephedrine and says (in bold letters) "Consult your doctor before taking this medication if pregnant or breastfeeding." I agree with Amy that this is usually CYA language. I think you had pretty good timing, taking it when he will not be nursing for 12 hours.
