    Question about poop - sorry

Not the most pleasant topic. I know that breastfed babies don't get constipated. I also know that even if they go for several days, or even a week, without pooping, that it doesn't mean that they're constipated. I'm just wondering though - could they still get uncomfortable from going so long without pooping?
The reason I ask is that Joe was CRANKY CRANKY all weekend. Then this morning he had a GIANT diaper explosion. It was a normal b/f soft poopy, but it was a lot. (Had to change him AND me before we could leave the house )
Anyway, do you think part of his foul mood could have been because he was uncomfortable?
Just curious. I was going to post this on the first year board but I was afraid I'd get a lot of answers from mommies of formula drinkers and I think it's a totally different situation.
    Thanks!

Why don't they get constipated? C was for a few weeks back around 6-8w. I used a small sliver of glycerin suppository to make him more comfortable and it made it better for all of us.

But yes, I do think thats likely why he was cranky. His poor tummy was probably rumbling and cramping from all that poop.

I guess it's not considered conspitation unless they have to strain and the poop is hard and dry. I don't think that happens with b/f babies.

Hmmmm. That's interesting. Well, I hope if that was Joe's problem that he's over it! He was a miserable man this weekend.

katie, i think they do. mia got like that frequently cause she wouldn't poop every day for the longest time. then she'd have a HUGE poop. it was regular b/f poop but i can imagine having that building up must not be too comfortable.

now that we're on solids, sort of, she poops more regularly but she has been very constipated now and again. i guess it's the rice cereal.
