    scheduled birthing and breastfeeding class!

Girls, I am soo on the ball! I figure best to do it now than later when I am uncomfortable and trying to get everything else done!

I registered for my delivery at my hospital last week. That was fun. Then I registered for breastfeeding and childbirth class today! I am taking childbirth on Sunday June 19th (I will be 32 weeks!) and I am taking the breastfeeding class on Thursday June 30th ( I will be almost 34 weeks!)

It's so exciting! Moving right along!!

So funny Erin! I'm a virgo too and called the lady at our hospital to schedule my classes. I called Tuesday, and she wasn't there, so I left a message and she never called me back . Okay, Okay, Okay she probably is very busy, but you know how us Virgos are.

YAY! I did this too! My Peri actually reminded me to at the last appointment!

My birthing class starts in May sometime when I'm 30w, and lasts for 4 weeks. All the brestfeeding classes were full! If they add more, I'll surely signup. Otherwise several family members told me that I should ask for a lactation nurse when I'm admitted to the hospital??

I know what you mean about being excited!!

ooh, good, i'm glad this came up.
i have a question for all you moms who have had kids before. was the birthing class worth it? i've heard from SOOO many people that it was a waste of time, and dh and i are uncertain if we should take one or not. what do you think? i'm def taking the breastfeeding class (which i better register for asap, apparently) but i'm not sure of the other class. i'm def going for the drugs....no natural delivery here! i'm a wimp! thanks for any input!

They asked me all those "questions" at my appt this week. Can't believe we're getting to the point in pg when we start to think about actually DELIVERING these sweeties! YIKES!

It's all just sooooo exciting. Glad you got in the classes--as I remember they fill up pretty quickly!

I took the birthing class with my dd. It was surely entertaining and most of all it made us feel important. They are somewhat useful, all depends how much you already know but they will never prepare you for the pain - you just have to expierience it to know! One thing that came very useful for me is the breathing techniques so you don't hyperventilate. It is very important, because you don't really think about it when the contractions become unbearable. As for pain meds, I had an epi (I am also a huge whimp!), but because I could not feel the contractions after that, they cut it off and I had to deliver naturally anyways. And you have to be prepared for that too! I think you guys should take the class, it will not make you as scared about the delivery and all. You will feel more confident going into labour with all the extra info! At least that's my opinion. Good Luck!
