    Valentines Day Fun

    Hi everyone,

In honor of Valentines Day and to put us all in a romantic mood, I thought it would be fun for us to share the story of how we met our DH. I'll go first...

We met on August 10, 1991 (our baby could be born on the 14th anniversary of our meeting!) when we were both just 21 years old. I was a student at University of Nevada Reno and my husband was on summer break from UC Davis working at a casino in Tahoe as a blackjack dealer. That Saturday night, I had gone home from my job as a grocery store checker and put on my pajamas planning on having a boring night in, watching TV and eating pizza but a friend stopped by and twisted my arm into going out dancing. I was very reluctant because I had had a bad summer of dating and has sworn I was giving up ever finding a decent guy. Diana literally picked out my clothes and put on my makeup as I protested. As I complained, she made the comment "Come on, you never know, tonight could be the night you meet your future husband". I swear!

Within 5 minutes of arriving at the local cheesy pick-up joint called, I kid you not, "Great Expectations", Diana bumped into my husbands brother who she had met a few weeks earlier. As they chatted, I found myself left staring at Jeremy without any introduction (both of us are kind of shy, so we just stood there awkwardly for a while). Finally, he offered to buy me a beer, and then asked me to dance. Right away I felt a sense that I had to get to know him better, that something really special was happening. We danced a few dances and decided to go to an all night hamburger joint so we could chat. We sat there talking and drinking cokes until 5 in the morning, then left to watch the sunrise at the local make-out hill overlooking the city, talking, talking, talking the whole time. It was like we had known each other our whole lives but hadn't seen each other for a long time and needed to catch up-I had never had an experience like that before. I finally dropped him off at home around 8 a.m. and he just gave me one kiss on the cheek. I spent the whole day on cloud nine and told my mom and my dad that I was sure I had met "the one". We've been together ever since.

OK, who's next??? I'm not the only sappy romantic out there today am I?

Oh Jen! That is such a great story!!

    Heres ours:

When I was a sophomore at The Ohio State University we met through mutual friends and dated for about 8 months.
I ended up breaking up with him the following summer (1993) since I was going back to college and needed some freedom. LOL

After that we lost touch. He moved to Chicago, lived with his then (biatch) girlfriend. I had a serious boyfriend (so not for me). Sorry, back to the story...

He called me out of the blue in December 1999 (we had both long since broken up with our boyfriend/girlfriend). He said "Erin" I said "Lou?". I knew his voice immediately!! Even after 7 years!! The first thing he said was "are you married?" "do yo have children?" (LOL)
We talked for hours every single night til he came to visit 1/14/00. In July he moved back to Cincinnati and we moved in together. Got engaged 2/27/02, married 5/31/03.

He is my love, my true love and my very best friend!

Here's the email he sent me this morning:
Honey, happy Valentines Day, I love you so much! I want you to know that I consider myself the luckiest guy in the world, I get to be with you everyday! I love who you are with all my heart baby! I want you to know that you are loved immensely with all my heart and I need you everyday! Have the greatest day honey, you're going to be the greatest mom in the whole world, my love! Can't wait to see you later!! I love you!!

goodness i am sitting here blubbing like an idiot, especially when i read your dddddh's email to you erin, bless his heart.

well, i was at college, i already had a boyfriend, and apparantly mike had noticed me around, and i again apparantly (i have no recollection of this) smiled at him a couple of times????!!!!, i guess i am just friendly LOL. anyway one day i was late for college waiting for a bus that never turned up, DESPERATE for the bathroom (literally nearly dancing around) but couldnt leave the bus stop as i knew the minete i left the blasted bus would turn up, then it started to RAIN!!!!!!!!!!. well he happened to be driving past, and pulled over and offered me a lift, now as far as i was aware i had no idea who he was, but he seemed to know me and said ''do you need a lift to college'', and i swear had i not 1)been late 2)been desperate for the bathroom and 3)getting drenched by the rain, i would have politely said ''no thank you'', but i didnt, so he gave me a lift, we chatted, he seemed nice, and that was that. quite often he would see me at the bus stop after that and give me a lift, meanwhile i had split up from my then boyfriend, so mike asked me out, it later transpired that he had seen me and knew i was 'the one' from that moment, and purposely tried to drive by the bus stop when he thought i may be there, all those months on the off chance he would see me, and i had no idea, just thought he happened to be driving by.

so he stalked me basically until i was free to go out with LOL.

that was 18 years ago, i was 16 he was 22, we have been married 14 years this year.

Wow, all the stories are so romantic, I am gonna cry....so cute...
    Here is mine:

I only heard about my dh from my parents and my sister as they all met him 6 yrs earlier than me. My step-dad worked for him and my dh had a serious girlfirend for 7 years then. I have finally seen a glimps of him for 1 min in October at my house when he came by to drop off some paperwork for my step dad (I was also dating a jerk at that time) and by December we both broke off our relationships. My step-dad kept on telling my how he is single( my entire family adored him for the longest time and they still do) and since I was single as well...we should get togeter... Ya, right, like I needed to date on a rebound for both of us!!! I had enough of men for few years!!! Then in January, one day, my parents insisted I come home straight from work. I did not know why but I felt they were up to something.... After dinner I got a call from him at home and he asked my parents if he could call me and they said that I said "Sure" (which I did not know nothing about) Anyways, we talked for 5 hours and set up a "blind date" at a billiard place few days later and we have been together ever since! We've known each other for 8 years, been married for 5 1/2, and we are still as much in love with one another as on the day we have met......

Ohhh all these stories are so wonderful! Valentines day is the best! Ok heres our story.
Adam and I both started working at our first jobs in the summer of '95 at a small little pizza place. I had no idea who he was, but we also went to High School together, he was a grade older than I. Adam got one of my best friends to ask me out for him (my DH was super shy). We went out a couple of times but he was so painfully shy that I had a hard time getting to know him (I was very talkative). So we stopped seeing eachother. We remained good friends all summer long, and then once school started back up I had really gotten to know him. We hung out at school, at work and on our off days. We began to fall in love.
Now hopelessly in love with this shy sweet man, he is about to graduate. I went to his graduation and partied with him and his friends all summer long. It was great, he was done with school, he was still working at 'our' pizza place and I would see him when I got out of school. Things began to get serious, obviously being in love with eachother at this point was not an option. We had to be together. This is where things got all messed up.
Adam decided that working at a pizza place wasnt working for him any longer and that he had to go on to do something better with his life. (How dare him grow up!) So he joined the Air Force. Crushed my little heart to bits. He left for boot camp on my 18th birthday. I assumed that it was over at that point. What 18 year old finishes High School attached to someone who isnt even around? So we went our seperate ways, him growing up in the Air Force me getting my first real job and moving all around the country. We always kept in touch and saw eachother when he came into town but that was about it. We had grown up and appart.
Then in '01 I had a knock at my appartment door. There with the biggest smile and the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen was my Adam. He was out of the military and ready to pick up where we had left off. I was fresh out of an awful relationship and needed his sweetness more than anything. We got engaged on Valentines day of '02 and married October 11th 2003. He is the love of my life. I can not imagine another man in my life. He is the man that I worked my first job with, he is the first man I made it to 3rd base with and he is the man I will have triplets with. I love him with all my heart.
Ok now I'm all teary eyed, whos next???
    Happy Valentines Day,
    Tammie

LOL....these stories are the best! tammie, it looks like your # is 3....3rd base, 3 babies....lol!

so, dh and i have known each other since 1991 when he moved to my town and joined our class in 7th grade. we became friends, and got closer and closer as high school went on. our junior and senior years, we were bestest buddies. little did i know he had a crush on me (i was rather oblivious and was always dating someone else). we went off to different colleges, but stayed close. we were the type of friends that could not see each other or talk for a few weeks, and pick up right where we left off. my house (or my parents rather) was his second home. we had so many good times partying it up together during our college days! again, little did i know he still had a crush on me. i foolishly, was still busy dating every a-hole i could find
our senior year of college, second semester, we were closer than ever. i had finally figured out that being single wasn't like getting the plague (i was a serious serial dater), and had been single for 6-7 months and LOVING it. bobby and i were always flirty-friends, and all of a sudden one day i was like "hey....when did bobby get cute?!?" but i didn't want to ruin 10 years of friendship with my serial-dating self, so i kept my mouth shut. but at this point, we were both coming back to our home town after college, and along with another friend, moved in together.
may of our senior year ('01) we were at a red sox game with his college for his senior week with a bunch of our friends. we saw more of the line for beer that day then we did the baseball game, so you can imagine our state of mind!! i found myself up in the bleachers sitting on his lap watching the game. i looked back at him, and our eyes locked....it seemed like time was standing still....and i thought to myself (and this is a quote) "f#%k it....i'm going to kiss him!!" and i did!!! and we were kissing until one of our friends saw us, and was so shocked that they yelled out "WHAT THE HELL!?!?" and we stopped. lol... that night as we talked in our drunken stupor, i remember him saying ''who knows...maybe we're supposed to get married!?!" who would've known even as a drunk fool, he would be right!
it took us a few months to get together after that...we were both too weary of screwing up a good friendship after 10-11 years. but, we eventually decided to give it a whirl, and it was the best decision ever. i love him more than i thought possible, and we have the best life together. we balance each other out (i'm anal and high strung, and he's laid back and calm) and i think that because of the friendship we had, we have such a strong base. he is my best friend. he proposed may '03, and we were married may '04. i am SO very excited to share my life with him! he is going to be the best dad, and i can't wait to see how we grow together thru all the years to come.
aww....now i'm all sappy. i gotta go give my sweetie a big 'ol smooch!!

You guys are the BEST! I love all of these stories.

Before I begin, I need to say a HUGE Happy Birthday to my DH, Brian! Today is my sweetie's birthday and I usually do something sexy...so tonight will be a belly dance

I met Brian at a Happy Hour when his bosses wife decided to play matchmaker. I had met his boss a couple months prior when my best friend and I (and about 16 others) rented a house in Newport. The following day we helped his boss move into a new house. That night, they wanted to treat us all to pizza and poker. I ended up winning all of Brian's money He got up enough nerve to ask me out to dinner...which I accepted.

When he called a few nights later, I decided that I couldn't go out with him. Not only was he 4 years younger...but he had JUST finished college about 10 months earlier and I had been out for 7 YEARS! Our phone conversation consisted of him telling me about getting naked at ASU at his fraternity party and jumping off the roof into the swimming pool! DUDE!!! Kick ass kegger!!!! I don't think so!!!! I called my friend back and said NO WAY...not interested...very much beyond that era in life! She convinced me that he was just nervous and to at least go to dinner with him.

The date was very impressive. Not only did he drive me to the door of the restaurant and open the door for me...he had ordered soup and ate it with the spoon going from the front of the bowl to the back. I smiled at his proper etiquette and knew the kid had potential

On our second date I had made him a mixed tape. I didn't even know him but he had mentioned that all the traffic stressed him out so the first side was mellow and the second side was hyper - going - out - music. At the end of our date, I put the tape in. Brian stopped breathing - literally! The first song was "The Very Thought of You" by Nat King Cole. When I asked him if he was okay, Brian explained (eerily) that he listens to that song EVERY night before he goes to bed in honor of his grandfather who had just passed away. He was the most important person in his life. I don't know why I picked that song and I certainly don't know why I put it first. We sat in the car and talked for about an hour. He started another story about his grandfather and I could see him getting choked up. I jumped out of the car and pulled him out for some fresh air. The taped flipped over again to The Very Thought of You and we kissed for the first time. As unbelievable as it sounds - it started pouring rain out of no where. When we stopped kissing, the rain stopped. We kissed again and it poured and stopped and it stopped. I walked away and went into the house. We didn't speak of it until the next day...and it made it that much more special.

6 years after living together and building our best friendship, we got married. Always feeling like Grandpa brought us together, we danced to "our song" at the wedding and listen to it every year on our anniversary. This year will mark 10 years!!!

    Happy Valentine's Day!
