    Surgery day is approaching....

We leave in the morning to go down to Fort Worth. He has to go in for his pre-op appointment tomorrow (Thursday) and then surgery is 7:30 Friday morning (we have to be there at 5:30...ugh).

I have to confess, the closer we get to the surgery the more anxious I get. Today I had Gabe at the pediatricians office today and afterward I popped in next door to my OB's office and asked him to give me something so I could make it through this thing! He prescribed me a few Xanax. I am gladly taking it. I really need to be calm and in control for my baby!

I am going to bring my laptop and will hopefully be able to update here and on FB during our hospital stay. I guess that will all depend on how he is doing. If you think of it, please keep Gabriel in your prayers.

I'll be praying for you and Gabe on Friday, and I will watch for an update. Surgery on your little one is never easy! Take the Xanax! I took it while Gabby was in the hospital, and it totally kept me from being an emotional wreck.

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. They wheeled him back to surgery about 20 minutes ago. Thank God for internet in the waiting room.....it is keeping my mind occupied.
The nurse called us here in the waiting room a bit ago and said Gabe went to sleep fine and the doctor was about to start his work. Our doctor and this hospital have all been amazing.

I will try to update again this afternoon!

Oh hon, hugs! I can't imagine what you are feeling right now. It's so hard being a mom sometimes. Many many thoughts and prayers for your sweet little Gabe and you during this time. I hope for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery for your little man!

Sorry I didn't get on here to update earlier. His surgery went well. They had to dose him up a lot with morphine to make him comfortable after surgery. The lipoma was larger than they had expected. The neurosurgeon actually said it was the largest one he had ever seen for this type of tethered cord.
Instead of just "clipping" it like they usually would, they removed it and sent it to pathology to make sure there wasn't anything else going on with it.

He is doing amazing. It's 24 hours after surgery and he is only on Motrin! He is crawling all over and only seems to hurt when I have to lay him flat on his back for a diaper change.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for Gabriel!

I'm so glad to hear that he is doing so well after his surgery. He sure sounds like a tough little guy, already crawling so soon after surgery. I hope the lab reports come back all clear.
