Amy- Please send Gabe over so I might give him a BIG squeeze!!! Soo cute!

Our updates... Well, CC is a clapping, waving, rolling, inchworming fool. She still is not crawling in the traditional way, but that girl moves. She's at the point where she just needs to figure it out. And I am the mean Mom that leaves her on the ground to try and figure it out. She has the strength, but just keeps rolling and inching around. It's pretty funny

Lately, she had been eating weird, we were up to almost 8oz of formula 4 times a day. But, she's been snubbing her nose at it. In her world she likes to eat.. then take a break then finish. She has also found her voice -- lots of DA-DAs, BA-BA, yet no Ma-Ma - the little stinker!

Currently she's still only 16.5lbs and long enough for 9mo clothes. No teeth... but loves table food! So that is our update for now....

As for my 20mo old... I have a lot more gray hairs and need a LOT more patience. Ugh...

    Gabe is just too cute

My three? Well..they are driving me nuts trying to find a new schedule. UGH! I can't seem to get them all to nap together on a regular basis. I have one army crawler, one roller and one that just would rather sit, stand or lay down. He might be our first walker since he loves to stand vs. anything else.
They are all clapping, saying Mama and Dada, bababa, gagaga. Dawson will imitate the noises you make..he loves to grunt and snort with you Brayden likes to shake is head "no, no, no"...he learned this because he loves to spit his food at you! Tanner is the clapper..he loves to clap!
Food..ugh..that's another schedule we are trying to get down. More bottles, more eating, finger foods..Tanner is the one I'm worried about..he doesn't eat as much as the other two and I think it's because he likes finger foods more, but hasn't tried too many..he does have 4 teeth now and chews everything so I may have to try more. But he only takes one 8oz bottle right when he wakes up, then it's a chore to get him to take 6oz bottles the rest of the day! We have our 9 month appointment next Thursday so it will be interesting to see what the Dr says about them. It's so crazy to me that when their big bro was this age he was up walking along furniture and behind push toys, and walking by 10 ish months. I know I will regret saying this..but I want these boys to be on the move!! Only because it will help with naps and sleeping!! Then I won't have to climb to my 2nd story a billion and one times a day!!!!

Amy - any updates on Gabe and the MRI? Let us know how you guys are doing.

Kim - Babies are smart - she get get around faster inching than slowing down to do the crawl. She has your brains

Nikki - You ever cease to amaze me, girl. I just don't know how you do it.

AFM - Madi is doing well. She is crawling, pulling up and walking along furniture. She will also walk if you hold her hands. Over the past couple of days, she has started to turn her nose to baby food, so we are beginning the transition to table food. Now that my body has recovered from the miscarriage and my milk supply is back in full force, she is preferring to nurse more again.

She has several definite words. The other day, I put her in her swing to take a nap, and I could hear her saying "a dah, a dah, a dah" over and over. Then I realized I couldn't find my dog when I heard her whining. Big sis opened Mads door and sure enough the dog was in there. Then later that day, she sat at the sliding glass doors pointing to the dog saying "da, da, da", so I am pretty sure she is using it for dog. She still has da-da, ma-ma, num-num (for nursing) and ni-ni (night-night). I don't know why she says night-night because she still barely sleeps

Oh - and she has stranger anxiety now too. She used to smile at anyone, but now when strangers approach her, she gives them the dirty "I-don't-know-you" look.

Hmmm... anything else? (I already wrote a book)

I have two weeks left in my last class for my master's, then just my thesis. Our house is on the market, and we are building a new one. I am homeschooling another little girl from our church who was being harassed at school, and we are TTC again.

    I know...I am crazy

    Miss you guys.

I hadn't had any new news to write until yesterday. We had our appointment with the cranio-facial/plastic surgeon....whatever he is...never did get his exact title. Anyway, he took LOTS of measurements of Gabe's head. THis was awesome because that is what I have wanted these specialists to do all along!!
So, the short version is that Gabe's difference between his left and right occiput bones is 7mm. Anything 10 or over he recommends molding helmet therapy. So, since we are still seeing a lot of good rounding with going to PT and now that he is mobile and sleepin gon his side/belly he thinks that the 7mm will continue to go down as his brain grows and that he does not need a helmet (though we will continue the weekly cranial massage for now).

It was such a relief to finally have an educated, non-biased specialist give us his input. I am so very grateful that we were able to start the repositioning techniques and PT months ago. I think it is what has saved him from having to get the helmet. I can not tell you how mishapen his head was 4 months ago....almost made me sick to my stomach the first time I realized that his little ears were so far out of alignment.

Anyway, he is still scheduled for his MRI first thing Wednesday morning...can't wait to have that out of the way.

On another note, I left Gabe home with DH this morning for 4-1/2 hours!!! Eeek, by far the longest I have been away from him. He took his bottle no problem and even went down for a nap with very little fussing....YEAH!!

Wednesday night we are going to a work dinner and we will let the sitter give it a try.

Gabe is definitely busy, busy, busy and crawling and climbing all over the place (I walked in the playroom to find him standing up yesterday) but he doesn't say much. He is pretty mellow in that area. He seems to understand a lot (like when I ask for a kiss or ask him where the bear is) but ba,ba,ba is about the extent of his vocabulary and even then it isn't very often.

Amy - great news on Gabe....I am so relieved for you!

Things with us are great, well except for another double ear infection - LOL. This is the 3rd one she's had this winter...I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Cami is crawling and pulls herself up to standing. She can balance for a few seconds unassisted, but usually ends up on her butt. She is making lots of noise, but no Da-da or Ma-ma yet. She is funny when it comes to eating....this is her schedule
    6:30 Bottle (6 oz)
    7:30 Fruit
    10:30 Bottle
    12:15 Yogurt
    3:00 Bottle
    5:00 Dinner (Veggies/protein)
    7:00 Bottle then Bed.

She is eating puffs and yogurt melts but honestly could care less about it....I am so surprised that food doesn't interest her - We love to eat in our family!!!!!! Her favorite treat so far is Frozen Yogurt (yes, I know bad mommy, but sooo yummy!)

Amy- Great news about Gabe. I've been watching for an update.

DH had shoulder surgery last month so I've been doing a lot alone leately. He's able to change a diaper now so things are on the upswing.
Mitchell has finally stopped with the crazy puking. Now it's just normal baby puking. We have a follow up in June with the specialist so hopefully we are done with that. He is pulling himself up to standing and crawling like crazy. Once he stopped with the puking and we set him on the floor more, he rolled, crawled, sat up alone and now is pulling himself up all within 1.5 months. He still does not have teeth. They have been bothering him for a few weeks and are now about to break through. He is so done with baby food. He loves to feed himself. I do scrambled eggs alot for him. Bananas, bread, even gave him a bit of burger the other night. I'm not doing too many adult foods until we get a few teeth. He loves the Mum Mums (as did his sister) and of course puffs. He gags on the yogurt melts. I'll try those again with teeth. We haven't been for a 9 month appt yet but he's a big boy. Once the food started staying down he went form 6 month to 12 month clothing. He's quite long as well. DH is 6' 2" so no surprise there. DD is in 5T and just turned 3 in January. I'm the shrimpy one.
He's babbling and calls DD yaya sometimes which is no surprise. I guess that would be the first word, but I'm not convinced yet. With DD it was saying baby at 9.5 months when looking in a mirror and she hasn't stopped talking since (don't know where she gets it from ).
He's a great sleeper most of the time. Naps can get a bit off with crazy days sometimes but overall he's up around 8:30, naps at 10 or 11 for 2 hours than naps again for 1-2 hours usually around 3 0r 4 o'clock and then to bed at 7 or 8pm at the latest. He sleeps through the night (since 9 weeks). I don't take that for granted and realize that I have been blessed with wonderful sleepers for children.

So I think I got it all in there. So much changes everyday. Hope everyone is well.

Bunker, I am so glad to hear the puking has stopped!!

Bunker brought up one of the things I wanted to ask about. What all are you guys doing for finger foods? Gabe is wanting nothing to do with anything that he can not serve himself. I need more ideas! We are still only doing solids 1-2 times a day (dinner and sometimes breakfast).

    So far we are doing:
    All the traditional Gerber snacks
    MUM-MUM's
    Cheerios
    Bananas
    Avacado
    Pears
    beans
    pizza crust
    Berries
Breakfast potatoes (kind of cubed, cooked with garlic, onion)
French Fries (yes, I am embarassed to admit that....but in a restaurant I will give him whatever he will eat to keep him happy!)
    crackers
    steamed carrots

I haven't done eggs yet because I wanted to wait until closer to 9 months.

Oh, and he cut tooth #7 yesterday so he definitely has the chompers to do more real foods!!

What else, what else? I need ideas!!

Oh and for the nursing moms, I have a question. I have noticed lately that Gabe will just want to nurse until the initial let-down is over (like 5 minutes)and then he wants the next side. I didn't know if he is just that much more efficient now or if he is just not wanting to work that hard at it anymore?? Have you experienced this as your LO's got older? I have no shortage of milk and AF hasn't returned yet so I am figuring that he is still getting a good amount of milk? Any ideas? I am just a little concerned that he isn't getting the hind milk. Could he be getting it after just 5 minutes?? The only time he will completely empty one side is if he takes a middle of the night feeding, at which point I am very full and he has a 12-15 minute nursing session.

Amy - I hope Gabe likes older women - it sounds like he and Mads are made for each other

For the finger foods - we are in the same boat. We are giving her all of the same foods as you are giving Gabe, and we also give her bread. I haven't tried beans yet - what kind are you giving him?

In regards to the nursing, again same boat. Once the mega chugging let-down is over, she is done. My freezer supply passed the 6 month date, so I had to toss, so I am pumping again to stock up. My milk is mostly hind milk now - it looks more like half & half. I think our bodies just adjust to what they need.

Anybody have any good finger food ideas????
