Ok Bianca... It seems I have taken lessons from you

My oven caught on FIRE tonight!

It is DH's fault as, he is in charge of cleaning out the oven. When I went to preheat my oven to 425 to make Hannah's Chicken Nuggets I smelled smoke and opened the door boy... did I have a HUGE surprise! The entire inside was in flames! Dh wasn't here to listen to me say a few cooking words but, I called him immediately to let him know the oven was in flames and to find out WHERE in the world the Fire Extinguisher was!

His advice was, to put a towel over it. I told him I would catch the towel on fire because, the flames were too bad. I extinguished the fire and if you have ever used a Fire Extinguisher before, it is quite a mess. Now my kitchen is REALLY messy something that, will just drive me nuts!

Needless to say, we had a wonderful dinner from McDonalds .... BLLEEK! No major damage just, the inside of the oven. Sorry no pics... I did think about taking some though but, I didn't want to waste any time when, a fire needed to be put out.

    Two words for you, Mel...

    BAKING SODA!

Didn't you pay attention in Home Ec when they told you to use baking soda for those types of fires? Seriously buy the big ol 4lb box at the grocery next time you're there and keep in the pantry. And yes, I'm speaking from experience.

Glad you, Hannah and the house are all OK! Never a dull moment, indeed!

I did take Home Ec but, that must have been one of the days I cut class.

As for the oven, it is pretty fried. Don't know if, DH can clean up all of the mess from the Fire.

Buy him some Easy Off and let him have at it!

And while you're buying that... get yourself some baking soda!
