    One tube possibly blocked?

Had HSG last week. Dye didn't go through one of my tubes at all. However, my RE says that he thinks it looks more like a case of spasm than a true blockage. Or maybe even some debris or mucus in the area of the tube closest to my uterus. Anyone else have a similar experience? If so, what was the outcome? Did you end up having to undergo a laporoscopy?

yeah... I hope if you read this you have already been able to deal with your blockage successfully! I have not heard about spasm vs blockage so that sounds positive. Most doctors will not state anything but what they think vs giving you hope where there is none. We delayed surgery and moved to folicle tracking for my "good side". I do not have success yet. We are 15 dpo on second iui attempt. It is a roller coaster ride isn't it? Wish you success and sticky baby dust! PS I gave birth to my son 3 years ago and the doctor says it is likely I had the blockage then. Please don't give up. I realize the pain that is involved we have been trying for pregnancy for 31 cycles and any day it may turn out to be 32.... chin up

Thank you for your reply. I am so sorry to hear of your struggles - it's not often that people can tell you that they know how you feel but I really do know how you feel. I have been off BCP since July 2006. We aggressively started with my RE last October - I was pregnant by Dec. - twin boys - carried them for almost 19 weeks - my water broke too early and I lost them in April. Pregnant again in July ending in miscarriage, RE thought ectopic at one time, but truly thinks it was just an abnormal intrauterine pregnancy. Anyway, here I am back at square one - no living children. Hoping third time is a charm. We are starting to try again this month - my RE said that after looking closely at my film, he is just not convinced that my tube is truly blocked. He thinks it was a spasm. I am going to trust him but that's not to say I am not nervous.

Wishing you success as well. Please keep me posted on you. I would rather do follicle tracking as opposed to surgery as well (and so would my RE) - surgery means scar tissue and I definitely don't need anymore issues to deal with that is for sure.

When I had my HSG, the tube was blocked so the radiologist injected my arm with glucagon, which is supposed to relax any spasm in the tube, and then ran the test again. Did you have this done? If not, it's something you might want to ask for if you ever have another HSG.

    Best of luck to you.
    My story:
Ruptured ectopic -- left tube lost
Second ectopic -- right tube saved
    IVF #1 -- fail

Ladies.. I can empathize but am not able to really understand the pain that must come with having a pregnancy end early. If I could reach through the computer and give you each a hug I would. This journey for people that will be great parents should not be so difficult. I have stopped asking why and tried to focus on the action that can be taken as it keeps my mind busy. May the miracle be ours.. would love to continue to hear about your journey as well! CJ

I had a similar situtation. I had an HSG by the recommendation of my GYN. It appeared that BOTH of my tubes were blocked so I was refered to a specialist (I guess an RE; I am new to this). Well, my HSG was EXTREMELY painful. They ended the test because they could not push any dye any further. My RE thinks that I too had a spasm.

I am scheduled to have another tomorrow but this time I am going to be sedated. :-/ I hope it all works out for you jsims!

Good luck! Thinking of you. Glad you will be sedated. The first one sounded awful. I had quite a bit of pain but I did not take pain medicine. can you say DUHHH lol About 10 minutes after I left the hospital I wanted to puke and my body hurt in a manner I could not sit down or stand up comfortably for 4 hours... I also had to work. It was a day to remember. I am not that silly any more. I have been taking time off with other treatments. It has been helping my stress level. We are on cycle 32. Our iui failed and I am sad. My dh said he just did not get his hopes up but recognized I did etc. I started clomid again yesterday! Wish you all success in your journey!

OMG! I thought I was bad! :-( I actually took meds so I can imagine what it could have been like. Even though my DH was there, I still very scared! I am sure that may have contributed to it.

I think it is funny how differently men handle these things :-( Anywho, I wish you the best with in your attempts! :-)
