    Monthy Theme Date

We recently realized we needed more fun together- not just time but FUN. Time to laugh and talk. We both agreed that we will be able to stick to the plan better if we are not relying on finding a sitter. Besides, I am still having a hard adjustment to the loss of privacy where after every romantic dinner out I have to come home and tell a family member how nice of a time I had. Gone are the days where we just came home and jumped into bed.
Our Monthly Theme Date is an at home dinner date in the middle of each month that begins as soon as we get the kids to bed (about 7pm). So the food, atmosphere/activity and drink will all match the theme. We listed out 12 themes that sounded fun. Some are real easy and others involve cooking new types of food we both want to try. We originally assigned a specific theme to each month but so far we keep doing the same one (margarita night) over and over again each month because we are having fun with it. Next on the agenda is "college night" where we plan to play a classic favorite old college drinking game (Century Club) and eat pizza (what else did I eat in college?). So it is easy and fun. BTW in case you are still reading and thinking...BOY IS SHE A LUSH!!!! Not all of the dates involve drinks but we are fitting all of those in before we begin to TTC something this year at which point it will be water with lemon for me. Here is the list of dates we originally planned.
Jan: Mardi Gras Theme/Louisiana Bayou Food-cook something new
    Feb: Valentines Dinner (TBD)
    Mar: St. Patty's Day
    Apr: Fish Fry
    May: Mexican/Margarita's
June: Breakfast for Dinner with Mimosa's
July: BBQ (DH got a Weber smoker for Christmas)
Aug: Lobster Night (a favorite here!)
    Sept: Dessert for Dinner
Oct: Spicy Cuisine-cook something new (Thai or Indian)
    Nov: Italian Cuisine
    Dec: College Night

More ideas we plan to do: Fondu night, Suishi night, Fair food, Fenway/Sox night (perfect during Sox games), Patriots night (football munchies).

I would love to hear any other at home date ideas you all have.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing that idea. I think I have to come up with our own theme. My kids would surely love it.
