Hi Ladies,
I am getting ready to start my 3rd ivf in a few weeks and thought I would try some things differently. I usually give my shots in my upper thighs around 7pm each evening. I will be taking follistim, microdose ovidrel, and antagon. Where do you guys inject your shots and what time of day do you do them? I've heard some people inject in their tummy. It does seem like most people do their shots in the evening.
Thanks for your help and God bless!

Where to inject and time of day

I did all my injections in the tummy - - didn't really hurt a bit (mostly Follistim pen and Ovidrel trigger shot) As for time of day? My RE said anytime between 4PM and midnight was fine for my treatment (had bloodwork monitoring around 8 AM). So - for convenience purposes, I did them around 10 PM as I was getting ready for bed.

I did all my injections in my stomach also, and around 7pm. My Dr said to try to give at least 12 hours difference between the injection and getting bloodwork done.
GOOD LUCK!

No reason for me really. The nurse who did the training for me said most people report the tummy is easiest and least painful for women giving the injections to themselves. So - I went with that and it worked fine so I never moved around.

I did all the injections in my stomach also. Below the belly button. I also changed injection sites so that I wouldn't get sore. My injections were in the morning though. My dr. told me when to do them
Hope that helps some.

Shots
I'll be starting Follistim along with Ovidrel and whatever else is necessary for IVF around June. (Have to have surgery first to remove cysts due to clomid or HCG shot I received with clomid for 4 months) I freaked about the follistim going into my stomach, but now I'm more worried about the IM shot. Not sure what meds go with that shot. Will need to order them. Does anyone have any details on the those? Is it about two weeks of shots before the retrieval? And I'm hearing that the retrieval is painful also.

Hi Melisa,
Yes, it usually is 2 weeks worth of shots. The retrieval is uncomfortable but, it wears off w/in a day. My RE said I could take Tylenol to ease the pain. ou'll get the hang of the shots. Once you begin it's second nature. Are you taking the progestrone in oil? If so, I suggest having your DH give those to you for the first couple of days. They're a little scary because the needle is big. I usually don't look when I have to give it to myself.
Take care and good luck!
Brahan
