Lightbulb diagnosed unexplained infertility but actually having early miscarriage

Hi everyone,
i thought i would share my experiances with you, it may help.
My husband and myself had been trying for baby for a while, after a couple of years with no results we went for some tests and was diagnosed with unexplained infertility on my part, my husband is fine. it was such a confussing time as with out a 'problem' there is no soloution.
We went on to have IUI which was unsuccessful, after which we decided to have a break from it all, i enrolled in college and got on with life.
early this year my periods became very heavy and painful and not as regular as usual, every other couple of months it was happening until one day i wondered could i be concieveing but not holding on to the baby long enough to notice.

50% of pregnancies miscarry unnoticed!

i spoke to my G.P about it and she said it could be a possibility and next time i was late to do a test as soon possible.
my period before last was due while i was on holiday, so i didn't really notice it was late as i was to busy enjoying myself, but as soon as i landed back in the U.K I knew something was wrong, it wasn't just a heavy period, everything fell out in one lump (sorry about the details). so again i got on with it not sure weather i did or didn't miscarry, is it my imagination? no confirmation.... etc
This month i was 5 days late and thought i had better do a test, i was so shocked when it went positive! i had never had a positive test before, all the time we were trying for a baby. i was so happy and then so scared. i was so frightened about losing the one thing i had always wanted.
after i was 6 weeks pregnant, i let my hair down a bit and began to get excited. the following day( Friday 16th 09) i miscarried, i was devastated, although i knew it was inevitable. i just hoped that i was wrong.
and although i am still hurting, the positive that came out of it is that i do not have unexplained infertility, i now no there is a problem and it can be fixed.
i have proof now that my suspicions were correct and the dr's have finally sat up and listened, i have been referred to the recurrant miscarriage unit for tests.
if you have unexplained infertility, don't rule out what has been happening to me. do a test the day before your due, keep an eye on your periods, the pain was all around my lower tummy and lasted 3/4 days. i passed the baby in one go and bleed for 5 days, but some woman bleed for up to two weeks. each time i am holding on to the baby for longer. the Dr said if i am conceiving and miscarrying this frequently it could be because my body doesn't know if its pregnant or not, she told me to use protection for a month or two until my periods regulate them selves and try again. i have a bit of hope and am positive i will have my own baby, where as 6 weeks ago i was considering surrogacy and ivf.
i hope that this helps someone, i wish i would have known this was a possibility sooner.
if you have any questions please ask
good luck!

I'll second that.

I once went in for a "next step" appt with an RE. While I was there I told him I thought I was pg (after 2yrs TTC, what would be the odds it would be the cycle I was at the dr's?). I hadn't tested because I had gotten a light AF a couple days before, but I spotted prior to the appt. He shook it off and said AFs vary --- mine never do!!!!!!!!! I have years and years of charts to show my regular flows. Again, he scoffed at me and said to call with my next cycle to start Clomid. Needless to say, I tested the next morning and it was positive. His office then monitored its mc 5w5d. I never went back to him and explicitely called the office to tell them they could close my file. I also face RPL.

I hope something helps your little ones stick!
