if you've had burst appendix....

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to pass along some information that may be helpful for someone out there who has had their appendix burst (ouch!). I have been in the dreaded "unexplained" category for 4 years now.

After 2 different obgyn's and one clueless RE, we finally realized that I have a lot of scar tissue where my appendix was, near my right ovary which is where the egg releases. The scar tissue most likely is blocking my egg from entering my fallopian tube. So the IUI's haven't been successful for this reason. The next step for me is IVF, that is when my financial situation improves!

Anyway, I just wanted to share this in case someone has had this same experience and is feeling a bit hopeless. I know the frustrations that come from being labeled "unexplained", even though natural conception is less likely in this case. At least I know what my next step needs to be.

Thanks for listening !

I had my appendix out and it was just about burst -I remember my RE asking me about it during my first appt and figuring it didn't matter. My HSG was ok, so I hope I don't have that scar tissue problem too!

Thunderbird, I hope you don't have any scar tissue problem either! If you have scar tissue then it is probably minimal. Good luck with everything!
