Hello from Madison, Ohio!

Hi everyone! I accidentally stumbled across this forum while doing my regular search online about anything re: unexplained infertility. I am 29 yrs old, and my husband and I were married Sept. 2002. We have been TTC since with no result. We have both been checked for any possible probs, but nothing has been discovered. I have some "mild endometriosis" but have been told that's not the cause. I have tried hcg injections, Clomid, and i have had 2 failed IUIs so far. I personally don't know anyone else who has/is going thru this, so people can sympathize, but have absolutely NO IDEA. If I hear, "just relax, it'll happen" or "take my kids--you can have 'em!" one more time, they will have to put me in the loony bin!!! LOL
My husband is my rock and is there for me to bring me up when I feel as though our efforts are futile. This is the most challenging thing I have ever gone thru in my entire life and it comforts me to know that I am not alone.

I am mostly a lurker at this site, mostly because it is still hard for me to accept the IF diagnosis, but you have found a wonderful resource here. There are all sorts of women who are going through just what you are and can offer advice, support, and most importantly unconditional understanding. Take some time to cruise the different categories and you will probably find many women with circumstances similar to yours. Good luck, visit here often, and lots of baby dust to you!!

Kristy,

I don't know why I didn't see this post earlier... sorry I am late in responding. My dh and I too have unexplained IF. HSG and LAP showed nothing wrong at all. They did think I had Endo b/c I have really bad AF cramps, but the HSG/LAP procedure (had both done at same time) showed that there was no Endo at all. All other tests checked out fine.

It's frustrating - when everything appears to be normal and yet you cannot reproduce like "normal" people. It is especially hard when you don't have anyone in your personal life that can relate to you. I hope you find that support on FT. I think you will.

Come here for questions, vents, just to talk - whatever it is that you may need. I hope that you do not have to deal with IF much longer!!!

Hi Kristy - I still lurk on this board now and then because I spent over 5 years TTC and was unexplained. IF is the hardest thing DH and I have dealt with and understand all the frustration with "relax and it will happen" and "you're lucky you have no kids, you can go and do whatever you want."

I wanted to respond to you for a few reasons....one to say hello to a neighbor. I live in Willoughby, OH and had treatment with Cleveland Clinic. I wondered if you were working with a particular specialist/facility. The other reason is to offer some hope.

Like I said, DH and I spent 5+ years TTC. I had very regular 28 day cycles, clear HSG, no luck with clomid (though I knew I was ovulating fine), tried 3 IUI injectible cycles, all with really good follie counts and had never gotten pregnant. I never had a lap to officially rule out endomitriosis but my docs didn't think that would be the cause anyway. DH had superman sperm counts so no male factor issues. Being "unexplained" was so hard.....I wish we knew what the problem was so we could just address that. But no such luck. DH and I spent a great deal of time talking about our next steps and fortunately agreed to pursue IVF, at least one attempt. Docs said even if we had endo problems, IVF would bypass that and it would have no effect on a potential pregnancy at all.

So - we went through IVF and was fortunate enough to get pregnant on our first IVF. We transferred two embryos and my twins are now a month old. Unfortunately we had to pursue extreme treatment to realize our dreams of a family but it did happen....I honestly never thought it would. So we still don't know what the problem was, perhaps some tubal issue after all?

I know first hand how hard the unexplained diagnosis is. To all out there, continue to be aggressive with your doctors and pursue whatever treatment/means you and your partner are comfortable with. Your miracle baby is waiting for you!!
