New to Board and looking for support
Hi All,
My name is Adrianne and I am 27 years old. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for the last 4 years. We have had all the tests done and are still diagnosed as having unexplained infertility. In the past we have done several cycles of Clomid but due to his military career, we have had to move a lot and have had trouble getting past this step. We are finally in a position where we can jump into the process. Today I am starting another cycle of Clomid and then Repronex injections followed by insemmination. After 4 years of dissapointment, I am having a difficult time accepting that my body needs help in this. I wanted so badly to do this on my own but the desire to have children is so great that I know what we need to do to realize our dreams of having a family. I was just hoping that there might be someone out there that could understand where I am coming from. I have family and friends that are extremely supportive but in the end, they just don't know or understand the pain that I am experiencing from this. Please help. I need a friend.

Welcome Adrianne! (that's a beautiful name btw )I'm sorry you've been unsuccessful thus far. I know how incredibly frustrating it can be. I was given an unexplained dx by one of my dr.'s and i think honestly that was more frustrating to me than finding out i was really PCOS. At least i had a dx that i could "fix". I can imagine not knowing why you aren't getting pg is the hardest part of all. ![]() You sound like a strong and very determined woman. Infertility is definitely not for the weak of heart. And of course you are a military wife--i am also, come join us on the Military Issues bb sometime, we totally understand mixing the military's needs with our IF ones --which makes it even harder. I truly wish you the best of luck. Please post often so we can help support you. Goodluck on this next cycle. Hugs, Jenn

Thank you both for your comments and support. Today I began Repronex after taking 4 days of Clomid at 100mg. I had been doing pretty well until last night when I found out that my sister-in-law was pregnant again. DH and I started trying about the same time that they did and here we are 4 years later and they are having their second. I have worked so hard at being positive this month and all of a sudden it came crashing down on me. I was having a terrible time last night but today I am doing much better. I will be going in for an ultrasound on Thursday and I should under go IUI on Friday. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your encouraging words.

Hi Adrianne!
Nice to have you here, even though it sucks to meet this way. FT is great and I have found it to be an immense source of support and compassion. Fertile people can be sympathetic to a point, but unless you've walked in our unexplained shoes, ya just aren't going to truly understand. Are you with a RE yet? If not, I would recommend finding one. I stayed with my OB/GYN for three cycles of Clomid and IUI, then moved on to a RE once she could no longer help me. Actually it was her idea I see him since I'm unexplained, or "impaired fertility" as my RE calls it. Unexplained is so tough because there is just no medical explanation at this point to tell us what is wrong. I just finished my first IVF cycle and even though it ended in an early miscarriage, I feel I am one step closer to holding that beautiful baby I see in my head all the time in my arms. We'll all get there, we just need a little bit more help than the "fertile" population. Good luck to you!! Tiffany me - 30, DH 38 TTC #1, 20 months Dx - unexplained 3 cycles Clomid and IUI, all BFN 3 cycles Follistim and IUI, all BFN IVF #1, early m/c IVF #2, February or March 2006 |
