Mystery Blob...
I was wondering if anyone what have any ideas about this.
DH and I are currently diagnosed as unexplained infertility - been ttc #1 for over a year. My HSG didn't show any abnormalities, but the radiologist said there was a tiny blob (my word, not his) at the top of my uterus and he couldn't tell from the X-ray what it was. Fast forward to last month when the sonographer was checking my follies. She also sees the "mystery blob". She said it is really tiny and wasn't sure what it was, but the location didn't block any tubes so she wasn't especially worried about it. She just flagged it for my RE to take a look at. My treatment cycle went great, or so I thought. My body responded well to the meds and everything "looked wonderful" according to the nurse. Well, I started AF yesterday. After I called the RE's receptionist to let them know, the RE called back and said he wants to do a saline sonogram to check out "the blob". Does anyone have any idea what the mystery blob might be and how long it might take us out of commission? I am stressing out because I feel like I am getting older by the minute and all we do is hurry up and wait! Thanks!

Welcome!
![]() Was this "blob" on/near your tubes or inside your uterus? it could merely be a small fibroid if it was in your uterus. That's what i would assume it is. Good luck with the sono. ![]() Jenn

Thanks for the well-wishing! It is at the top of my uterus, but not blocking any tubes. I agree with you that it might be either a small fibroid or a polyp. I'm really just hoping that we will FINALLY have a reason for our infertility. Being "unexplained" is a real pain in the neck! I just hope it doesn't bench us for too long. I'm turning 31 next week and getting very anxious.

I too had a mystery UFO during my HSG. They said it could have been an air bubble or fibroid or polyp. I too was hoping for fibroid to give me some answer as to why no pregnancy (18 months trying). Had a laporoscopy done two months later, no polyps, fibroids, nothing.....guess it was an air bubble. Officially unexplained
Good luck to you, and keep us updated

Well, we had the saline sonogram yesterday and they found 4 polyps so now RE is scheduling a hysteroscopy for next month. DH and I are disappointed that we are "benched" for 2 months, but we are glad that maybe now we know what the problem has been. RE didn't guarantee that this was the problem or that we would even get pregnant after surgery. He just said he wouldn't do any more fertility treatments for us unless we have the surgery. So, the mystery of the blob has been solved!

I'm sorry to hear they found so many polyps.
![]() A friend of mine, who is here at FT also, just found out the same news. ![]() I'm glad you're getting in for surgery right away though....the sooner the better. I'm sorry it'll have to be 2 mths before you can ttc again but hopefully this will help. ![]() Hang in there. Jenn

Hello,
I am the friend Jenn is talking about. I just had a d&c and hysteroscopy 2 weeks ago. It wasnt as bad as I was anticipating. We are ttc #2, as we are blessed with our son Zachary who is almost 4 1/2. They found the polyps during a cycle as well. I am very glad they are out of there. My recovery was fine. The first few days I had slight cramping. And I was tired for a few days. But other then that, everything has been fine. We are not going to ttc again until after the new year. We want to enjoy the holidays without all of the hustle and bustle of IF treatments. GOOD LUCK. If you have any other questions dont hesitate to PM me! ![]() Julie |
