Anyone want an IUI 2WW buddy?

    Hey Gang,

I'm new to Fertilethoughts...love IT! I can't believe I haven't been here before. I'd love to start a thread with gals starting their 2WW this week. I'm on 1dpo after #2 IUI with Follistim/Femara/Ovidrel. 3 good follies and ready for a BFP! I've been trying for almost 2 years now and ALL of my friends are pg, it's my turn!

    Hoping for this cycle...

    Angie

    TTC #1 since 7/04
    Dx with PCOS 10/05

Thanks for the welcome Pretty! Did you do any stimming this cycle? Sticky vibes to both of us during this 2WW torture!

I'm leaving for Hawaii on the day of my beta test, so I'm hoping for BFP to celebrate with, otherwise it may be a difficult trip!

Angelblueeyes-Which Island are you going to in Hawaii? I used to live on Oahu.

Prettyasangel-Everyone in the family is pregnant or just had twins on my husband's side....luckily it's just a brother on the other side who doesn't plan on getting married anytime soon but it's frustrating now that the inlaws are back North from wintering and we get to hear ALL the updates...Arghh!

Hey Angie - I'm 1dpiui today. Stimmed with Gonal-F, took Ovidrel and tonight will begin progesterone supp's (3x/day..uggh!).
We've been ttc #1 for 5 1/2 yrs. In the beginning, had the attitude that "it'll happen when it's supposed to". Went through a "we'll just be childless" phase. Decided that lifestyle wasn't for us & began getting the initial tests. Had a m/c March '05 (after getting pg on our own!), then began an all out mission to get pg. I have friends who have completed their families by now. And we started ttc at the same time.

Kittymama - I just got the news last Sat. that my 2 cousins, who are brothers and about 10 yrs younger than I, are going to be DADS AT THE SAME TIME. And one will be a 2nd time dad. Yipee!

Hey ladies how are guys doing during the 2WW period.

To tell you the truth the 2WW is driving me crazy. I am ready for this to be over with.
I'm so tired of trying to analyzing everything from every cramp, headache, backache, tp watching, dizziness, sore breast and implantation spotting.
2 weeks really isn't a long time but in the IF world 2 weeks seems more like eternity.
I'm trying to remain positive by thinking positive thoughts create positive vibes.

****Good luck ladies and baby dust to all*****

Prettyasangel - Your Beta is right around the corner! Yes, the closer it gets to Beta day, the harder the wait. I was looking at your profile to see if you had written what what meds you had used and I saw that you did an IVF this cycle or another IUI? It looks like your last 2 IVF's ended in m/c???? So sorry!

    Hey Cali......

When I first started down this long path of IF procedures. My RE started me with IUI's. I completed 2 iui's that did not work.
I then moved on to IVF. I have had 2 fresh IVF cycles that did result in a pregnancy but I then miscarried.
1st IVF no heartbeat was detected.
    2nd IVF blighted ovum.
I had some immune testing done an it was determined that I had an autoimmune problem. I was diagnosed with Lupus anticoagulant. So now I have to take heparin and BA.
Then I did a FET this yr Feb/Mar and that resulted in a BFN.
This explained why I had the miscarriages.
So I gave myself a break from IF for a few months. I then decided to start a new fresh IVF cycle in May/June.
I also have 2 frozen embies.
So for this cycle I took 10 units of Lupron and 150 units of menopur in the am
I also took 150 units of follistism in the pm.
Well at the beginning of this cycle I caught a nasty cold/flu. I think it had a bad effect on my cycle.
I only produced 8 mature follicles and my levels were not the best.
So I spoke to my RE and we both agreed if I cont with the IVF cycle it would not end in my favor so we decided to cancel the IVF cycle.
My RE then suggested that I convert to an IUI since I had taken all the meds.
I agreed I figured it couldn't hurt to try an IUI. The sperm would just have more targets to aim for.
So on 06-05 I gave myself the HCG shot and went in on 06-06 for the 1st iui & then on 06-07 I had the 2nd IUI.
So now I am in the 2WW and have beta on 06-21 (which is my sister B-day hmmmm a good luck sign. I sure hope so).
Whew! I hope this explains everything.

Oh wow, you've been through a lot. The 2 IUI's that didn't work for you, were you taking meds with those? I'm also curious, does your insurance pay for your IVF's? With the IUI's we've done we know that with each one, we get a fighting good chance but it's hard to put all our eggs in one basket & go for a $12,000 IVF for only a 45-50% chance of success. We pay out of pocket for our treatments. One day we may do IVF but for now we're beginning to research adoption.

That would be just wild if you got pg with an IUI after having IVF's. I'm sure it's happened before!
    Take care.
    Cali

    Hey Cali,

I was taking follistism & lupron when I did the 1st 2 IUI's that resulted in a BFN. Also back then my RE did not offer back to back IUI's. It was a one shot deal.
Well now my RE does offer back to back IUI's. That was a shock to me. So if anything maybe I will have better success at the back to back IUI's with this cycle.
I did ask my RE nurse why did they change their IUI protocol to back to back IUI's and the nurse stated that they are getting more BFP's from doing 2 IUI's than just one IUI.
I would be on cloud 9 if I was to get a BFP from this cycle.

***Also I do have Infertility insurance coverage. I live in a state that has the state mandate to cover infertility. ******

Thanks and baby dust to all.
