BETA drop; any hope?

My HCG dropped on my 2nd BETA but RE still wants to retest in a few days. Is there any hope for me at all? My first BETA was an 85, so my 2nd BETA, 3 days later, is less than 85. Why do they want to retest? From what I've seen on the boards; a drop seems to mean it's over. Is there any hope at all? I'm a realist so if noone ever succeeds after a drop, I'd like to know it now.

Well I had a very similar experience last year. My first beta was 78 and three days later it was 76. My RE told me right then that it would not last. They retested me every couple of days, until it went to 0.

I am sorry that I do not have a good ending story, but there is always hope. I have heard of others that ended up rising and they had a healthy pregnancy. Please keep me posted!! I will keep you in my thoughts!

Thanks. An HPT today was negative; I'm pretty sure we're done. Will do a blood test within the next day or two to confirm; then plan for the next cycle which I hope will be April/May.

Although my beta never dropped it never went up either it was 75 12dp3dt and it was still 75 at 14dp3dt they told me it was chemical but after a couple more days it rose slightly to 83 they told me not to hold on to hope that it was chemical after testing again it again slightly went up which in turn they told me was a blighted ovum and that there was NO baby well the baby that was never to be was! so ill hold on to hope for you while you go thru this very difficult time

Hi Wolf....Well, I haven't heard to be honest with you of a beta dropping and it turning out good. But... stranger things have happened. Stay positive and keep us updated. I hope you have good news...++++++++ thoughts

Thank you soooooo much everyone for the feedback. Going tomorrow for the 3rd BETA but I'm 99% sure that this cycle is done. Looking forward to starting again as soon as the RE gives the green flag; hopefully April/May. Thanks again for all the support; you all are the best!

Hi Jeanette,
Thanks for asking. Unfortunately the 3rd BETA confirmed the loss. Betas went from 85 to 45ish to 5. We plan to try again as soon as the RE can get us started. Probably May/June. The whole process is so discouraging. And I just got the bill for ICSI and AH; just what you want to get after a confirmed failure. ARRRGHH!
But I'm hopeful when I see success happening for others.....
