Hello evryone!
I am 31 yrs young, DH 32 I have blocked tubes ttc 6 yrs
my bloodwork came back very good, ultrasound of my uterus
was good. DH bloodwork was good & seman analysis looked great. My insurance doesn't cover IVF or meds. My husband and I decided to pay for IVF. I spoke w/ RE about having tubes removed I supplied my RE w/ laparoscopy opreative reports and
HSG report which both reports mention blocked tubes however one report mentioned a little dye did go thru w/some pressure.
Anyway my RE doesn't recommend for my tubes to be removed.
We can only afford one cycle for now!!! I am wondering if we should wait a little longer and save for two cycles or just go for it
If we decide to go for it I'll be calling my RE in April for day one of my period, then going for blood work again on day 3 once results get back from day 3 they will start me on birth control. .....Please I would really appreciate some feedback

pg ment
I had one tube removed because my RE said that if the tube is hydro (fluid filled) that the fluid can leak back into the uterus and kill the embryo or prevent implantation…he therefore recommended that I have it removed and I got pg naturally 6 months after having the hydro tube removed, so there may be some truth to his recommendation...you may want to verify if either of your tubes is fluid filled, they could see mine with an HSG
I must admit having your tubes removed is emotional, luckily I only needed one removed, but if having both removed would have given me a better chance with IVF than I would have done it…jmo
It’s good that you’re doing some research and even get a second medical opinion if needed, I know how costly IVF is, not to mention the physical and emotional part

I agree that you should ask if there is fluid in your tube(s). In my case, there was no fluid in my blocked tube, but it filled with fluid during the IVF stims.
You might also want to see if your RE offers a "shared-risk" plan. In our case, it cost a little bit less than 2 full cycles to do the shared risk, which gave us 3 fresh attempts, plus any frozen attempts in between if there were frozen embies. The way it works is if you get pregnant on the first try, they keep all the money. But if you don't, you have at least 2 more tries.

I had an HSG done before I started my first IVF cycle and they said only 1 tube was blocked. My RE did not say that surgery would be necessary before starting my cycle. I had 2 healthy 8 cell embies transferred but they did not stick. ...Now he's saying that they need to do surgery before the next cycle. My insurance only covered part of the IVF and we had to pay for meds out of pocket. ...In my opinion, that whole cycle was wasted and the RE should have recommended surgery before even starting the process. I should have researched it more but I trusted my RE's opinion. I've got 3 frozen 8-cell waiting on us to get enough money to do the cycle again...which is a really good thing! So, I guess it wasn't a total waste but I wish I would have known in the beginning. It would have saved a lot of money and heartache for us both.
I wish you luck on your cycle!!!

for us Tubie Girls. I have to say it was very informative. I was thinking of calling my RE for another appt. I really want to understand why he doesn't want to have my tubes removed. I want to do all I can to have a BFP. I want to do all I can do to get there. I also work for OB/GYN and they would be the one to remove my tubes. I know they would take very good care of me . Tell me what you think

I am going to call RE to set up another appt. I want him to explain why he doesn't want my tubes removed. When I originally asked him it was over the phone
I think it would be best if he and I were face to face on this issue.

I'll be curious to see what your RE says.
I can tell you that my first IVF after having my tubal surgery was a BFP.
