Should I get a new OB??
Since my m/c in August I've been wondering if I need to make a fresh start with a new OB. I think this may be more for emotional reasons, and perhaps I am being superstitious. I went to him after my OB who was an hour away told me I was having a m/c 6 years ago because he was closer and I was still having a lot of pain. It's a good thing because it was an ectopic and I had to have emergency surgery. Then for 5 1/2 years I was not TTC and used him/others in his office for regular GYN checkups. Then there was the m/c last month. Then there was the ruptured cyst few weeks ago. He of course is not to blame for what has happened to me, but he is getting up there in age, and I wonder if I need a younger Doc. (He also told me to wait atleast three months before TTC again, which I'm not) On the flip side, he knows my history well and what I've been through. Has anyone felt this way? Am I being absurd?

At least shop around. If you find someone you click with, then switch. If not - then stay with your current OB.
If you're asking that means you need to look into it to at least resolve the issue.

Hi Shel
I've changed obgyn's a few times when I've not been happy. I have a lovely doc now who seems to actually give a **** - a minor miracle in my experience here. I now feel that even if my tx doesn't work, that at least he listened and thought about us. Are you able to go and meet someone else to see if you prefer another doc? You may find that you end up staying with your current doc after researching others. I think there's a lot to be said for a doc who cares. You could try and ask him about how he keeps up with new txs etc. You might find that his age isn't a problem if he is keeping himself abreast of new developments and txs in the IF/RPL field. My new doc isn't the most experienced doc I've seen. I've been to a world expert in London for a number of years and I couldn't stand her. I just felt like a lab rat and felt that because we didn't fit into her particular interest which was APA then we were expendable. My new doc isn't really young but is more up and coming and nowhere near as experienced but he's interested and researching options and approachable. I tell you, after 11 years of seeing a whole myriad of docs I definitely am happy with him. I wish you luck. Having someone you like and trust in all this makes an enormous difference in how you cope. Gemma x
