I don't know if I shared that my sister recently had her first baby. I think I mentioned something about all the trouble she had late in her pregnancy.
Anyway, her dh is AA, so her ds is biracial, just like some of my kids. This baby is white, and has blue eyes. It's very odd. (and yet, looks just like his daddy, so it's not a question of paternity). My BIL also has three girls from a previous marriage, and they are a lot darker than the latest arrival. I sure hope he gets some color soon, or this poor baby's going to have a complex! All the kids on my side of the family are of color, and he's going to be the odd-man out, looking so light.
I watch my nephew while my sister and her dh are at work, and today was one of those days. After Daphne's gymnastics class, we met my dh at the mall to get new cell phones. (mine was on it's last limb. really needed a new one) And I was thinking about my sister's baby. I reminded me of when Daphne was born. We hadn't seen her yet, and when talking with the agency, they told me that she was really light. "You can't even tell she's biracial." And that just bugged me. Because it was like it was very important to look as white as possible.
Sorry, I should be taking my cold medicine and hopping in bed, but instead I am having random thoughts online. I think this head cold is scrambling my brains.

Jim 20 wonderful years!
