My surrogate just told me she has a bad yeast infection. Today is 7dpFET. The beta is 2 days away. She takes the progesterone suppositories. I am really worried that the monostat cream will make it so the progesterone will not absorb into her body.
Has anyone had this problem?
What do I do?
I am so scared of losing these possible FET embryos.
Please help! Doctors office is closed. I don't know what to do. Should I request PIO asap?

Oh yikes!!
Did your surrogate get permission from your RE before starting the monistat cream? She absolutely should not start or stop any meds without the clinics explicit permission. I would absolutely get her started on the PIO ASAP and stop the progesterone suppositories. They are most likely the culprit for the yeast infection. Hopefully the monistat cream has not jeopardized this cycle. Keep your fingers crossed that all is well.
By the way - 9dp5dFET is way too early for a beta in my book. These early betas do nothing but drive everyone crazy.

I am with Sirell on the beta being early...
As for the yeast infection, I am hoping you are saying you are worried for her to use it, not that she already has. As far as the suppositories, I am sure they are what is causing the issue and yes, I would request PIO as soon as possible. I know your surrogate is miserable ( those infections are AWFUL) so maybe there is a way to get in touch with a nurse after hours? I am sure all will be well. On a good note, I have heard that some women get yeast infections in early pregnancy due to the hormone changes and what not. May be too early for that, but, you never know.Been married to the man of my dreams since 12/2/95

How could anyone tell if they had a yeast infection while using those suppositories?!? LOL! they are such a mess! Has she used them before? Because the stuff that comes out would look like a bad infection, but it's just the melted medicine.
Blessings!

I was about to say the same thing that Janelle said. The discharge from the progesterone suppositories really does mimic what a yeast infection looks like, but without all the itch. I would definitely have her hold off on starting monistat until she can speak with the clinic and get their yea or nea on it. I hope that she hasnt just gone ahead and started it anyway.

Thanks everyone for your help on this. I am so appreciative of your responses.
I had the after hours nurse paged and she did call in the PIO to be delivered before noon tomorrow. I am going to walk my GS through a PIO inj over the phone tomorrow.
If you get a yeast infection- can the pg be lost if there is one? What are the harmful possible effects of the monistat? What should I be concerned with?
Beta on Friday.
Worried,

I think it will be fine. There are tons of posts online about yeast infections in the 2ww and many of them say that their dr told them to take monistat between progesterone suppository doses. I did notice that many say to use 3 day and to avoid the one day doses.
thinking sticky thoughts =)

BARGE ... she can eat a lot of yogurt that has probiotics in it and go on a probiotic suppliment to help the yeast production in her body. If she is hesitant about the Monistat (which I also took during my few weeks of pregnancy) she can put PLAIN yogurt (make sure no sweetner etc) and insert some of it into her vagina and use it to sooth the outside. It has good bacteria that will help the yeast not multiply. If she gets permission from her doctor she can soak a tampon in the yogurt and insert that as a form of treamtnent as well.
She likely got it from the suppositories (I use to all the time) so switching to PIO shots will help but she needs to get her good bacteria back up and running to keep control of the bad bacteria.
