Concerned about my 1st beta....

Hi all,

Well, had my first beta today...11dp6dt and it was 174. I'm a little concerned because I had + HPT on 4dp6dt. Granted, it was VERY, VERY faint but still ++. Shouldn't my number be higher at this point? Like in the 300's at least? I go back Monday for another test. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my IP's that this one sticks. The first go round turned out to be a chemical PG so that's why I'm so concerned about this one being low.

Any words of encouragement?

Thanks!

Congrats to everyone else who has had positive betas recently!

Harley

My doctor says a beta 5 or more means your pregnant and the 1st beta doesnt mean any thing. I ts the 2nd that does and you want that score to double . My 1st beta was only a 71 and 2nd was145 so i dont think it means any thing sounds great!!! I took my 1st beta 13 day after transfer. Oh and my RE said allshe wanted was a 50...

It really varies from lab to lab. Some labs say anything over 2 is positive, while others say anything over 5 is positive. I used to work for an OB & we used 3 different labs. One said anything over 2, another said anything over 5 & the other said anything over 10 was positive!! Go figure!! Any way, you can't go by what the line looked like on an hpt as to how big your numbers are. It just doesn't work that way. 174 for 11dp6dt is a good number & it's definitely not low. The biggest thing is going to be that it doubles within approximately 48 hours.

Don't worry, absolutely nothing to worry about!!! Congratulations to you & your IP's!!

I agree, Harley, your number sounds great so don't fret!! Let's see what your repeat beta looks like on Monday. I'm sure all will be well!! So, congratulations to you and your IPs, as you are all PREGNANT!!!!

As everyone already said, try to relax. Everyone's body is different and every will measure at different levels. Some women are high HCG producers and some are low. My day 12p3dt with twins was only 52! LOL and day 14 was 112! LOL

Hugs,
Lucy

noelle,

Oh, that was so long ago, I have no idea what my numbers were during that time frame of 20-25 days! LOL I do remember that my numbers were doubling every 30 hours after my second beta though. That is when I first suspected that it was twins. my first U/S (2 and a half weeks after my first beta) was when we found out that it was twins. Actually it was triplets but one never developed a heartbeat.

Hugs,
Lucy
