We started ttc in 2003. Dh deployed to Iraq at the end of 2004. While he was gone I found out that one tube was blocked and both were hydros. I had both removed in Sept 2005. Dh came home from Iraq in November 2005 and we started the IVF process. While we were waiting to have a cycle at Walter Reed Hospital dh received orders for us to relocate to Hawaii in March 2006. We discovered that we had to start all over at the military hospital there. The waiting list was 12-18 months. There I was 35 and dh was 38. I felt like time was running out.

At this point I was so depressed and sure that we would never get pregnant. So many things seemed to be working against us. I got a job here in Hawaii and found out that HI has a law requiring insurance companies to provide IF coverage. We were so happy! We went to a civilian doctor and had our first cycle in Sept/Oct 2006 - 6 eggs retrieved and 3 embryos to transfer. On Oct 13 we received the news that it had not worked. We were devastated. This insurance only covered one cycle so I had to wait for open enrollment at work to change insurance companies. Then I had to jump through all the hoops for their doctors and have all the tests again. We did another cycle in May/June of 2007 - 6 eggs retrieved and 4 to transfer. My first beta at 9dp3dt was 11. My next beta at 11dp3dt was 35. My RE did not do any more betas. I had to wait until the 6 week u/s to see what was happening. Everything was good at that appt. One perfect heartbeat!

February 15, 2008 my son was born. He is a perfect miracle and truly the light of my life!

Lightbulb PG and Foster children MENTIONED AT 41 after over 20 yrs ttc #1

    Hi Ladies,
I have been coming here on and off since 1999. I am now 41 and had my first M/C at age 15 or so, laproscopy at 17 to see why I had cramps, and seen my first RE at age 20 and was told progestrone was low and prolactin high, but they never checked my tubes. At age 28 in my second marriage I went to a new RE and the first thing he did was a HSG and whatta ya know I had bilatral tubal closure. Allthough IVF was my best bet Insurance would only pay for surgery to repair, so that is what I did. 11 months later I had a hcg of 19 after thinking AF was just slow to flow and my ex dh went and bought a ept that was slightly positive, well next day the hcg dropped to 1 so thus it was considered chemical. Another yr went by then I went to another RE who did an HSG and learned left tube had closed back up so here we were in 1998 and still nothing I was 31. Now in 2000 DH and I split and I moved to Michigan from Florida and moved in with my very first BF from age of 14 Daddy of the baby that I m/c at age 15 which I was about 4 to 5 months along. Then in 2001 I went to another RE in Michigan, who removed my left hydro tube and was able to view the right open tube that had been opened in 1996 during the original tubal plasty, and from what he absrved the fibria had grown back and the tube looked normal as if it had nevr had any surgery but he didn't know what the inside looked like allthough the dye passed I spasmed at on point and it didn't. So another year went by 2002 I was then 35 and the clock was really ticking, the BF and I were having alot of issues and I left to my fathers in California, then I came back for a couple weeks to help him move to a smaller place and get the rest of my things. When I got back to California I was really cranky snapping at my Dad and evryone else and thought it was PMS. After being over a wek late I took a EPT and whatta ya know 2 lines, so of course I went to ER got hcg and it was 240 they followed it for a week I call RE in Michigan and got a script for progestrone suppositories then I started spotting. I went back to Michigan so I could get with RE. They found a sac in uterus at 7 weeks then when I came back week 8 to see if there was a heartbeat the sac was gon, so RE wanted to follow my HCG back down to zero, and whatta ya know it was over 50k. They called me to the hospital for another U/S and on the screen I sen my baby and the display said HB 143, the U/S tech asked me they didn't see anything yesterday? BUT she still wasn't confirming anything, she just said stay here I will be back, then I heard her on the phone I have a patient that needs to come down to the ER.
Sh wasn't allowed to tell me anything except the doctors would be coming to talk to me. WHEW I was devastated they had to go in and cut my baby out with a heartbeat. Me and BF got back together then he startd blaming me and the dr. for killing the baby horribly abusive, but I stayed. Then a year later I finally saved enough money to go to Canada for 1 IVF cycle, but his daughter 31 had a car accident and was left quadraplegic and died 6 months later. He backed out on my cycle and stole my money. The following year I bought my own condo and moved out so now 2004, and 38. At 39 I was finally rady to do a IVF cycle cash paid with donor sperm and whatta ya know I changed companies and ended up with 4 covered IVF cycles. I did 2 in Michigan and had my brother and SIL living with me with their kids now 6 and 8 who they did not take car of properly. I had both parents and the kids, then
just my brother and the kids then my SIL and the kids. During my first IVF cycle I had my brother telling me I was evil and would never have a child because I refused to pay his way anymore and was pushing him to get a job, and then my second IVF I had my SIL take my car to pick the kids up from school and leave me at my office with no cell phone, no car, and no house keys until 11 pm and of course both of these cycles failed. In the end they ended up back together comitted a robbery of one of my SIL BF's in my condo in front of the kids and I reported it to Child protective services, and the police, CPS made a decision to remove my nieces from both parents when found, but they skipped state to Oklahoma where my mom lives. I TIRED AND NEEDING A BREAK haveing 2 more insured cycles 40 and not thinking it would ever work thinking NOW not jsut tubal but age factor and overweight ect I packed up rente my condo out came to Massachusettes relaxed got set up for my 3rd IVF with another RE and as soon as I was ready to begin my cycle cps oklahoma picked up the girls after 4 months. I was convinced that my IVF was bust again, but went through the motions, put in my homestudy for kinship foster care of my nieces and at the same time they were finishing up my homestudy I learned that my 3rd ivf HAD FINALLY WORKED I WAS PG and I was getting my nieces. Then I learned I was having triplets, which later ended in vanishing triplet and I AM BLESSED TO SAY THAT I am 30 weeks pg with healthy twins, and have had my nieces in kinship foster car with m since 12/17/2007. We are living happy and drama free in Cape Cod MA. I am now single 41 and Mom to 4, in the mortgage industry and broke but have empty arms no more. I hop my story inspires you to NEVER GIVE UP!

    Hi Ladies,
after 6 years of trying to concieve, 4 surgery's (the last of which I had to have both my tubes removed due to both tubes being hydro and badly damaged), 6 cycles of Ivf, 3 miscarriages and a lot of tears and heatache, my son was born on 31st July. I still cant believe he's here and he's truly the love of my life.
I hope that this gives hope to the ladies who are TTC with tubal issues.

    Preg with #2!!

I'll give the abridged version here! Bilateral hydros were discovered waaaay back in the '90s when I was married to my ex-husband. We tried to have them unblocked, which was a big mistake. I hadn't done enough research, and didn't give the OB the thumbs up to remove them at that time if they were in too bad of shape, so several months later, it was back under the knife again, but this time to cauterize them off (tie them) to prepare for IVF (so the buildup of toxic fluid would not trickle back into the uterus).

So that left us with IVF as our only option. Before we could get that far, the marriage fell apart. We parted ways for good.

Several years later I met and married my soul mate.

Fast forward to 2005 and again in 2008 where after two IVF failures, two IVFs proved successful for us! We have a 2.5 y.o. dear son, and a baby girl on the way!

It's been a rough fertility road. And I never thought I would experience pregnancy and raising a family, yet, here we are!! And even though I was feeling deflated after two IVF failures, we still didn't give up. And #s 3 AND 4 were successful!

    Hello Everyone!

After 4 yrs ttc, I was dx with hydro tubes. My RE recommended removing my tubes to start IVF, but since my tubes were soo damaged he was only able to cauterize (burn shut) one of my tubes. The other tube was what he called "hooked" but was still severely damaged. After 2 cycles of IVF I have almost 2 yr old boy/girl twins. The RE told me I would have a 1% chance to conceive on my own. I am now almost 36 weeks with my miracle baby boy!

    Miracles do happen! Believe!

    Question

    Hi ~

I love hearing all these success stories. I just went through my 1st IVF cycle - BFN. I have tubal infertility, but from 2 HSGs and a Lap, discovered that my tubes are open and I had only slight scarring. My first RE said that my tubes look better than many women's who have had babies. He wanted us to try again on our own, but I was afraid of another ectopic (had 2) and wanted to try IVF. So, I had 11 eggs retrieved, 8 fertilized, 5 transferred (all good quality), but none of them implanted.

I'm wondering if I have hydosalphinx in one or both tubes that is not getting diagnosed and would have caused fluid to leak into my uterus or maybe we just have to try IVF again. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have my appt with my new RE and will discuss this with him, but would value your insight.
