I am, though it's just me, dh, our 7 month twins, my parents & my grandma, so it's not too much to prepare for. I'm making prime rib, mashed taters, green beans diablo, not sure what else, probably some sort of cheesecake for dessert. I made prime rib the first time 2years ago & fell in love with it, sooooo good!

I am hosting Christmas breakfast with Dh's family and then Christmas dinner with both of our families. I am so behind it's unreal. I'm not even done shopping, let alone start the menu planning. Right now my dd has the flu, so nothing is happening except puke clean up.
My plan is to make a chicken broccoli lasagne and baked ziti, so hopefully everyone is healthy soon so I can get moving on everything I need to get done.

Baked ham , Mashed potatoes , homemade ham gravy , stuffing , corn , green bean casserole , pistachio salad , deviled eggs , cranberry sauce & rolls . ( I feel like I'm forgetting something though ... )
Before dinner there is cheese ball , spinach dip , veggie & cheese trays .
After , lots of Christmas cookies & breads , oh and pie ! Usually 4-5 kinds of pie .
No matter who in the family host dinner ... this is our menu

I have Christmas Eve dinner but I go to my parent's house for Christmas lunch and then DH's parents for Christmas dinner.
For Christmas Eve, we have ham, broccoli cheese casserole, cheesy hashbrown casserole, potato salad, dips, cheese tray and cookies. I don't do fancy but everyone must like it because they come back every year. LOL

I am hosting and we are having Eggs Benedict Christmas morning and maybe some cinnamon rolls if I get busy and make them. That night we will have ambrosia, slow roasted free range (yata yata yata) turkey with gravy with giblets, green bean casserole with mushrooms, buttermilk mashed potatoes, honeyed cranberries, buttermilk biscuits, maple pecan tart and purchased pumpkin pie (for my step father that doesn't eat nuts) and cornbread stuffing. All of this is made from scratch with no soup mixes or anything. If you can't pronounce an ingredient on it, it isn't coming to my table (except for the pumpkin pie but that I will likely get from Whole Foods).
I am planning on making a german meal (saurbrautten, cabbage and some sort of bread) for Friday night but I may push that off to Saturday since it would likely be good then too.
My mom is coming up on Friday or Thursday (her DH drives fast and she thinks she needs 2 days to get here but I think she only needs one with his driving). So I think I will talk to her about Christmas eve on Saturday morning at our usual weekly skype.

We are JUST back in our kitchen and yes we are hosting. We will have turkey on the Green Egg, Christmas salad (bibb lettuce, pink grapefruit, avocado slices, and this Russian type dressing), pecan dressing (pecans, gizzards, wild and brown rice, onions, etc...) I don't have any recipes though... cookbooks all washed away in Katrina.

Have you always done everything from scratch or is it something you started doing after you got sick? I envy you having the patience and desire to cook that way. My family would starve if they depended on cooking from scratch. I'm a terrible, horrible, awful cook. :P

I started eating this way in about March. DH was "err... okay" when we started but honestly now he never wants to go back. We haven't done ABSOLUTELY everything from scratch since this time. When I thought we would be moving I packed my food dehydrator and that stopped me from making our cereal. Last week I made the cereal again and now DH is THRILLED as he prefers mine to store bought. We have even stopped using our microwave (put it in the basement) as part of how we are eating now. You would think left over night would take forever now but honestly it doesn't and we don't have rubber chicken either.
I honestly think that ANYONE can eat this way. Even if your working or whatever. It just takes a bit of planning but once you get into the swing of things it really is easy and takes no more time then the "normal" way of eating. Best of all I know that my food wasn't processed in China (even the dog is on Wellness dog food and made here in the USA). I would also say that you need to change the way you think of food a bit with this. The government is great about pounding into our heads that this is bad and this is bad. Eating the way I do I don't listen to Uncle Sam.
I would be willing to help anyone that wanted to try so let me know.
