    New SAHM

Hello ladies- I am new to this whole SAHM thing. I have (almost) 4m old twin babies, miracles as a product of IVF. And I have always worked until they were born and we decided i was best for me to stay home with them

My husband is in the army- and is currently deployed, has been for a year but should be home sometime this month...

Just wanted to introduce myself- I surprisingly have a TON of time on my hands as we pretty much a set schedule and they are SUCH good babies!

Question for you ladies- If any of you worked before kids- How do you cope with not working? I am used to being so much busier and more independent. I will obviously be busier when they become mobile- but its just not the same busy, if that makes sense?

I found a playgroup to join, it let me have adult time even with the kids, I think that is what I missed the most.

I am so happy you get to stay home with your babies!

I find I have way less "free" time now! We stay really busy but it is very important to get some adult time in or you might go crazy! It is so much different being a full-time mommy! I hope you have some friends you can talk with. And know we are here for you anytime you need!

good luck and I hope you enjoy you new job!!!

Hey thanks! ) I guess I wouldnt say I have a ton of FREEEE time LOL. Ecspecially since they do not nap like they used to )

I have a few adult friends nearby- but most of my friends work and do not have kids yet or have recently moved... The joys of a military wife! But I do get adult time and it will DEF help when my husband is home..

    Thx again!!!!

WELCOME!!!! I'm so glad you've joined us. We have a great group of gals here and it's always nice to get new members.

I worked from the time I was 15 until we started IF treatment (all treatments failed). We had never planned on me being a SAHM but things have worked out for us and I'm able to do it. It's a blessing most days but there are some that we're waiting outside for DH to get home. Lol

I was able to meet some other moms my own age at church. At first, it was tough when I was dealing with IF and they all had babies but you don't have that issue anymore, thank heavens! I've never joined a playgroup so I can't give advice on that.

But again, welcome. I'm so glad you're here!!!

Welcome and congratulations on your twins!

I worked for 12 years before becoming a mom (I was/am a RN) and it was a huge adjustment for me to stay home. I was really restless and felt guilty for not contributing to our income. But, being a sahm was very important to dh an myself, so it was something I gradually got use to. Try to find some type of activity to be around other moms. I appreciated the new friendships and advice I got from other ladies who had btdt. I do a Bible study one morning a week which provides childcare and also attend MOPS (mothers of preschoolers). These have been invaluable in maintaining my sanity and I have learned so much through the mops group as they have speakers of various topics that pertain to parenting/homemaking, etc.

HTH and congrats again on your sweet babies!

    Welcome!!!

I was a housewife before I was promoted to SAHM, I was lucky to live at the time in Japan were you are consider to be in a high position to be HF or SAHM, and our contribution to be one of either of them is towards your family, the society, to health, contribution is not always in $$$. It was not that easy to manage my time in the biggining, and it also help that my DH never made me feel I lived off of him, I had access to money and I never needed to ask, and he always made me feel it was ours, and he always made contribution to my retired plan as much as his. I too attended moms group, gym for toddlers, pool for babies, ... This way I met other SAHM.

I always looked at all the good I was making to be home, we have a healthy lifestyle because I cook all home made meals, my dd is well rested and stayed close to me to in the most important years of her development, much less stress because I am happy and we have a happy child, DH is happy to come home to a nice home made meal and a glass of wine and he can chill after a long day of work. Like other say it is important to think about yourself and have some adult time.
