Sippie Cups

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on getting their child to suck from a sippy. Mine just tries to chew on the end. I had a nubby and a gerber and now I've gone to a cup and lid to get him to realize the immediate effect. Does anyone have any suggestions?

They will eventually get it, you just have to keep trying over and over again. Mine love the nuby! I will say, it took them a while to loosen the nipple or spout thing on it...so give it some time!

I've tried holding it like a bottle so they realize that it's for drinking. I recline the high chair and that helps them tip it up to their mouths. I fill it half full with water that way they don't have to tip it so far to get some to drink. Try to offer it at a time when they are thirsty/hungry (but not starved). Practice, practice, practice.

Another gal suggested removing the no-spill mechanism at first so that baby has an easier time getting fluid and realizes that it's for drinking.

DD is able to drink a little from it. DS loves to play with his cup instead.

My son is 14 months old and has *just* gotten the hang of the sippy. I used the Nuby one with the silicone straw and handles for the longest time. He did well with that and it worked as a bridge to the real thing.
