I just heard recently that researchers are saying not to give children Tylenol for their fevers after having their shots because they believe that it reduces the effectiveness of the immunizations. My question is, how can you not give a child Tylenol if they get a high fever from the shots? What are your thoughts on this? Plus, my pediatrician said that Annaliese will be getting 4 shots at her 2 month check up, 2 in each leg. What all are they being immunized for at this age? I know she'll be getting her second Hep B vaccine but I don't know that the others are.

I called my pedi before Patrick's 2 month shots. He said to give Tylenol before and then for at least 24 hours after (longer if he got a fever but he didn't). He goes on Friday for his 4 months shots and I will be doing the same then. I would ask your dr what they suggest.
As for what he got, he got a DPT vaccine, one for rotovirus, one for whooping cough, Hep B, and then a liquid one. He didn't get the Hep B at birth, so he will have to get the 3rd dose of that at 6 months. In all honesty the shots were harder on me, than him. He cried for a few minutes after the shots, but then he was fine.

We got the same as DMS with Addison so I'm assuming it'll be the same with Nolan. I remember the oral med being bad - Addison didn't like it at all and spit so much back out
Our ped asks us not to give meds before we get there so that when they take the temp it is accurate. They do say that we can give the meds as soon as they temp is done so that they have it before the shots. They are also ok with the meds being given aftr the shots. I have never heard anything abotu it messing with the shots. It's definately something to ask about though.
Nolan has his 2mo shots next Monday, the 23rd. I'm dreading it...I hate having the shots for the little ones
I think it's easier when they are little like this though, compared to when they are 12-15mo,etc!!
