4 kids and never really had any sick babies

We just finished our 2nd round of the flu w/ Mac. It has been a LLLOOOONNNNGG way back to being healthy.
For those of you that have dealt w/ the respiratory issues what do you think?
He has a bad cough that leads to some serious choking. This morning I was trying to take the girls to school plus a carpool child and we couldn't leave due to the choking. Everytime I put him in he starts choking on the bmilk and of course he is on his back so it stays there for him to choke on. My 7 and 5 yr. olds were freaked. The other mom ended up coming to get them and she could hear it.
I got this under control later in the day and he is doing better. No more feeding and hopping in carseat until he is better.
He has a rattley chest I am doing the nebulizer and debating if I need to take him back in to the dr. I am really not a person that runs to the dr so I debate this. We spent 3 days there last week so i really would like to give this more time. I know soon as I make the appt. he will rattle until the moment we walk in because you know that is how it always goes. He also has that cough mixed in so interested in your opinion for those that have dealt w/ the bigger respiratory issues. My 3rd had a mild case of RSV but that is really the extent of my baby sick issues.
So for those of you that have dealt w/ this what do you think? Do I head back or let it ride out a little longer? I would hate to end up w/ pneumonia but I also realize sometimes things have to run it's course. So let me hear it

If it was me, I would go with my gut and I'd take him back. I don't like running to the Dr. for every little thing as well but it doesn't sound like he's getting better. Maybe he needs a dose of antibiotics. For your own peace of mind, I'd take him back and get him checked out again. Let us know.

I agree with Sherb. I know her lil Kyle was pretty sick and it came on rapidly. Same with my baby Steven, common cold one day a day later (because I knew the nurse was an idiot) a full blown pneumonia with needed antibiotics (then 3 days later positive RSV)! Also, make them do a pulse ox on him (it's the little foot test to see how much oxygen is getting into their lungs). Babies the age of ours can take a turn for the worse, just within 24 hours. I would NOT wait or mess with ANY respitory issues as their lungs are so tiny and can close up so much easier than a grown person or childs. Take him back as many times as you need to for respitory issues! The saline treatments with the neubulizer were our best friend for a while! It really helped him breathe and opened up his lungs, and you can use the saline every hour if you need to. We also used albuterol, but only in the morning and at night the first week. I hope he feels better soon, it's hard when the lil ones who can't talk are so sick . Good luck hon, keep us posted!

Last night we decided we would bring him back today. Well you know this morning he sounds a little better. I think I am going to wait a day.
The rattling was gone when he was sleeping I will watch him today to see how he is doing. I am holding off on his 6 mth appt until he is healthy.

Glad he's feeling a bit better . I had to hold off an extra 2 weeks also on the 6 month check-up/shots.
