Selective Reduction after Rupture from Amnio??!!

Hi - We have a very unique and complex situation. Long story...
We had a miscarriage in December (IVF). This round we discovered (on the 3rd Ultrasound) that we were having twins. The original diagnosis of the second twin was not good. The sac was too small and the baby was a week behind in size. We were told it would probably be a vanishing twin. To our surprise and delight, each weekly scan to follow showed improvement, sac grew and the baby started catching up. The NT came out low-risk and at 13 weeks we were optimistic.

Last Thursday, at 17 weeks, we went for our anatomy scans and amnio tests. Seconds before the amnio the doctor tells us that he doesn't expect anything to come back from the amnio, and that structural/development is more likely. He would do the test anyhow and then discuss in his office. Of course, she was tense and upset during the procedure. We find out that there are major structural defects on the legs and feet. Upset as hell, we realized we would choose to do a reduction in the following days.

Next morning at 6:30, my wife begins to leak. We knew it was the sick baby because it was blue (dr had put blue dye in that sac during the procedure). Worst day of our lives thinking we would lose both. It's now been 5 days (released from hospital yesterday, on permanent bedrest). Even though we have had several mini-scares since, we're hopeful it has re-sealed.

Now we're in a major pickle, since our doctor (who has done over 16k amnios/cvs) is now very nervous about the SR procedure since he still is shocked we ruptured in the first place. He wants us to wait to heal but is afraid of rupturing it again.

We're located in NYC and we're meeting with Dr. Mark Evans next week who is supposed to be the industry leader at SRs. Hopefully he can give us some good news, since everyone so far has been pessimistic (or at least conservative with their prognosis).

Wanted to share and get your thoughts!

Dr. Mark Evans was my doctor. He is phenomenal. If anyone can "fix" this, he can. I have zero experience in a ruptured/healed sac, I was pretty textbook. But, Doc Evans is THE BEST, he invented the procedure and has been doing it for 30+ years. Lots of hugs, love and good wishes headed your way. **sprinkles is around the corner from his office, might want to head there for a cupcake or two, I firmly believe cupcakes make everything better**
I TRULY wish you the best. Please update me after you see him. If you need his emergency number, message me.

    To give an update:
Never a dull moment. Went to Evans the following Tuesday (19wk2days), procedure was sad. Dr was compassionate. However, unfortunately we were woken the morning at 4am with some leaking which got worse. Went back to the office at 9am, confirmed that the sac had ruptured (again), this time it did not stop all day as we were admitted to the hospital. Fortunately the healthy baby remained fine and sac remained intact and the cervix appears fine. However we were again at high risk of infection. We stayed over for a few days and were sent home for modified bed rest and weekly exams at the office. It's now been over 2.5 weeks since the procedure. At 21 weeks now. Doctor says we cannot sigh in relief until 28 weeks though, and then will re-evaluate. Oh and on top of everything, started a new job. Thanks to the family and friend support for keeping her mind occupied. I, on the other hand, have aged 5 yrs in the past month.
