NT and reduction question

My reduction is scheduled for Thursday 10/5 and when I talked to the Dr. I thought that I understood that the did the NT scan that morning before procedure and used it to decide which one to reduce ( I am reducing three to two). I have been reading on other boards though that you have to wait several days to get numbers that go with the test. Do you think I got it wrong and I was supposed to have NT on my own before reduction? It would seem that it would be too early since 10/5 I will be 12w4d. I am confused now.

They did my nuchal scan that morning right before the reduction. I think maybe you are thinking of the CVS test instead? The CVS is a genetic test (like an amnio but can be done earlier); the nuchal scan just looks for markers that may indicate abnormalities but is not as definitive. I was not offered the CVS back when I did the reduction (6 years ago) - not sure if it wasn't being done as much or because of my age (34).

Amy

I just wanted to wish you well this week. I had my reduction from 4 to 1 in August. I did do the CVS because that's what was recommended at my age (34). It was painful for me, but it was over fairly fast. I will tell you that as stressful and emotional as it was and is, by the next week, I truly felt better about things. For the first time I was actually acknowledging the pregnancy and allowing myself to be happy about it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Meg

Thanks Meg,
I have been trying to think like there been only two in there all along. I haven't spent that much time thinking about it until this past weekend and since then I have had some trouble sleeping. So many What IF's. But I had a gut feeling since before I even confirmed that I was pregnant that this would be the case and that if I contined it would be disasterous. I just want to get it over and done with so I can move on.
