Yes. We got pregnant with DS 5 months after I stopped birth control. We've now been trying since he turned a year old 15 months ago. It's due to polycystic ovarian syndrome. I was actually to expect to need fertility treatments with DS but we were lucky and did not.

Hi jlgadbois. Welcome! I think there are quite a few couples that this happens too. It's probably quite a shock and very hard to wrap your head around. I know I've been shocked by the extent of our SIF and we went through PIF (although it was much shorter and much more minimal treatment than what we've been through the past 4 years). How are you doing? Are you happy with the RE you're seeing?

Hi Kierra, I also have PCOS. How are you approaching ttc? Treatment? What type?

Julia, right now metformin and losing weight with a low carb diet is what I am doing. My insurance won't cover fertility treatments and my doctor will not refer me to a RE until my weight is down. I started at 299 at the beginning of May on my home scale and the doctor's scale weighed me at 297. I'm down to 273 after 2.5 months. I stopped menstruating in September of 2011. I have a long way to go but I keep hoping I'll get a period so I can start charting and temping again. I've heard some women will get a period after losing a small amount of weight combined with metformin but no luck for me. I've lost 26 pounds in 2.5 months and no sign of AF all though I am thrilled about losing weight.

Hi Julia and Kierra! Thanks for replying.

I am happy with our RE doctor. He is young and went through infertility with his wife, so I feel he can relate.

Kierra, way to go on the weightloss! I have a friend who has PCOS and just celebrated her son's 2nd birthday. She too had to lose weight and go on medication and it took them 2 yrs TTC. GOOD LUCK!!!!

JuliaB,WE did Clomid and BD in May (BFN) and Clomid and IUI in June (BFN) we are taking time out this month since I wil be on vacation when I'm ovulating. Going to do another IUI in August. Are you on any treatments?

Hi Kierra! You go girl! It sounds like you've been working incredibly hard to lose weight and you've been doing it. I hope this will be enough to help you ovulate and conceive.

jlgadbois - I'm sorry for your failed cycles. This is just a heartbreaking process. Not sure if my signature showed up, but we're prepping for a FET (this will be our 4th transfer, 2nd IVF) which is scheduled for August 6th. Fingers crossed for both of us!
