    Annoyed Beyond Belief

Do any of you get Parenting Magazine? The "Mom Debate" question was "Should a woman be able to use fertility treatments to get pregnant if she already has kids?" Then they have people's comments. The question alone was stupid enough. One comment in particular has just irked me to the point where I am going to write to the magazine and highly suggest they write an article on secondary infertility to TRY and get it through people's heads how devestating it is. This is the exact comment.

"If you already have kids, then maybe there's a reason God didn't want you to have more." -- Shayla casey, Dade City, FL

It is quite obvious that SHAYLA is NOT a church go-er if she thinks God doesn't want certain people to not have more children or children at all. It's the uneducated, mean spirited people that spew crap like this from their mouths and hurt those of us in this predicament.

Then there was an editor's note stating "Many of you wrote in to tell us this month's question slighted those who struggle with infertility. We want to assure all our readers that it wasn't our intention. Blah, blah, blah."

If you have time, please help me by writing your own letter to Parenting Magazine. www.parenting.com

OMG!!! I can not believe they had an article like that!!! Yes, miss Shayla has no clue in the world what she is talking about. Comments like those come from ignorant people and obviously ones that don't read their Bible. There are too many stories of women with infertility issue in the Bible that were finally blessed with a baby; so to say it's God's will that they don't have any or anymore is just stupid. UGH!!! Stuff like that really burns me!

There was a huge thread about this on the GP board. I am sorry to say that there were 4 anonomous voters who agreed...if you have kids, no IF treatment (if you look at the thread, there was 5 "no's" but one is a self admitted mistake by the voter).

    Sad, huh?

    Mom,
It's indeed very sad and I will reiterate no one has any business judging any of us who want more kids or the way we achieve them by IF drugs, adoption, DE etc. If I can afford my kids and I'm not on welfare keep your mouth shut. I bet those 4 didn't have the guts to come out and post openly about it and share their outlook on why that should be. It's plainly called ignorance and I have real pity and feel sorry for those people.

Incredibly sad that someone could dare say that. Surprising since these boards are IF based that there are some who still feel that way knowing the pain IF causes and the want to have a child. Makes me sad.....

You are right Stacey, they are ignorant...

The guess is that those who voted NO are bitter primary people....going on the idea of "you should be happy with what you have, some of us don't have anything..."

Anyway....it was overwhelmingly YES, if you want more kids and need IF treatments to do it, then fine.

Funny though, in a related poll.....people felt that anyone could adopt as many kids as they wanted.

    Mom, Baby V,
I agree it was probably some primary gal who is having a heck of a time. I can understand because I've been there. We tried many years with failures before we were successful and it wasn't easy and there were casualties along the way. I was bitter and resentful during my childless years but not because other people had children but because I couldn't and that my body betrayed me. It is still betraying me LOL darn it all! Now on top of betrayal it's defective! HUGS

I think you bring up a HUGE point. Most of us here went through primary (no disrespect to those that didn't!!!!). And we were hurt and angry and bitter to a degree....but not that others had babies....that we didn't!

It isn't like there is only a few babies to go around......and one person's fertility has nothing to do with anothers.

    religion ment.

    Mom,
I agree. Another thing that annoys me is let's get back to god and I mean no disrespect. The person who is implying because I used IF drugs to get pg. the first time and then had a natural pg. that god is trying to tell me I have enough kids and cursed me with IF once again is nonsense. I could go on but I won't. Enough said.

Or the idea that if you have to use IF at all, it is because God doesn't want you to have kids.....we could go on and on....
